[MMA] UFC announces Cole Miller as BJ Penn’s replacement opponent for UFC 199

With Dennis Siver having to pull out of UFC 199 in Inglewood, CA on June 4th due to an undisclosed injury, BJ Penn has been given a new opponent.

According to the UFC Tonight Twitter account (per Megan Olivi), Cole Miller will be stepping in for the injured Siver.

News of Siver’s injury broke yesterday after it was previously announced that his fight against Penn would be the featured preliminary fight that was to be broadcast on Fox Sports 1 before the UFC 199 pay-per-view portion of the card.

Miller is coming off a fight against Jim Alers on December 19th, 2015 that ended in a no contest after Miller was unable to continue after an accidental eye poke. Penn is currently on a three fight losing streak, having last fought Frankie Edgar on July 6th, 2014 via TKO via punches in the 3rd round.

UFC 199 will also feature UFC Middleweight Champion Luke Rockhold defending his title in a rematch against former champion Chris Weidman, and Dominick Cruz defends the UFC Bantamweight Championship against Urijah Faber as they look to complete their trilogy, Hector Lombard vs. Dan Henderson, Max Holloway vs. Ricardo Lamas, Dustin Poirier vs. Bobby Green, Brian Ortega vs. Clay Guida, and more.

UFC 199 airs live on Pay-Per-View, with prelim bouts airing on UFC Fight Pass and Fox Sports 1. For more information on UFC 199, check out the SCU Events Page or visit the official UFC website.
