Beginning 12:01 am on May 31st CW6 in San Diego will be replaced by a re-transmission of Mexican television station. The CW programming will begin airing on a sub-channel of KFMB, 8.3 starting on May 31st. The relevance to Southern California wrestling is CW6 is the San Diego home of Championship Wrestling from Hollywood. As of now when CW6 goes off the air so will CWFH in San Diego.
Despite issues with the show being pre-empted during the college football season, the San Diego airings of CWFH has been especially popular among wrestlers that are on the show due to the added exposure it brings them in San Diego, which currently has quite a few independent promotions running. It is also a big loss for the promotion as the station was not only available throughout San Diego but also over the air in Tijuana and on DirecTV as their west coast CW station servicing areas that did not have a local CW affiliate.
CWFH’s David Marquez stated that they were only notified of the change last week (though the change was first announced on January 18th) and they are currently in negotiations to continue airing Championship Wrestling from Hollywood in San Diego.

FIST Combat will have Joey Ryan on their June 9th show in San Diego.
—
The Kickstarter for the Joey Ryan comic book “Joey Ryan: Big in Japan” by the production team behind the Lucha Underground comic books has begun. You can head here to back the project.
—
Pacific Coast Wrestling has announced Rob Van Dam, Mr. 450, Warbeast (Almighty Sheik & Jacob Fatu), John Hennigan (John Morrison), Sami Callihan, Lio Rush, Kikutaro, Willie Mack, Joey Ryan, Xtreme Tiger, Douglas James, The Dirty Blondes, and Alexander Hammerstone for their June 2nd show in Wilmington. The main event of John Hennigan challenging Rob Van Dam for the PCW title is the only match that has been announced so far.
—
Douglas James and Heather Monroe got engaged over the weekend.

New Japan’s G1 Special shows in Long Beach on July 1st and July 2nd sold out in less than two hours. Trying to get two or more tickets together was impossible after around 15 minutes as only single tickets remained. On New Japan’s Japanese language site they have mentioned they are currently considering adding more tickets.

Maverick Pro has confirmed Super Crazy for their May 13th show in Los Angeles. Also announced for that show are wrestlers from Impact: Moose, Sienna, and Angelina Love. I believe it will be Sienna and Moose’s Southern California debuts. Douglas James is also scheduled to make his debut in the promotion on that date.
—
UIPW will be holding their 6th anniversary show on May 7th at the Clela Arena in Los Angeles. The main event will be Volador Jr. defending the UIPW championship against Misterioso Jr.. Brian Cage, Teddy Hart, and Sam Elias will also be on the show. Sam Elias on Brian Cage being on the same show is interesting, as Elias (who wrestles in CMLL as Sam Adonis) has been getting a lot of publicity lately for doing a gimmick in Mexico where he comes out as a Trump supporter and Brian Cage was actually doing that same gimmick in AAA first. This will be Sam Elias’ Southern California debut.
—
Orange County Championship Wrestling will be running on April 22nd in Los Alamitos at American Legion Post #716. The main event will see OCCW Champion Angel Ateu defend his title against Rudy Rodgers in a steel cage.
—
First and second row tickets for SoCal Pro’s 10th anniversary show on April 15th in Oceanside are sold out. Third row and general admission tickets are still available. Bestia 666 challenging Ryan Kidd for the SoCal Pro Golden State title was recently announced for the show. The main event is Rey Mysterio Jr. and Lil’ Cholo versus Rocky Romero and SoCal Crazy.
—
Sabotage will be sponsoring a match on an upcoming Finest City Wrestling show.
