Pro Wrestling Guerrilla has officially announced their first event of 2019, Hand of Doom, takes place at the Globe Theatre in Downtown Los Angeles, CA on January 18th, featuring two title matches, two debuts, and several returns.
Current reigning PWG World Champion and the 2018 Battle of Los Angeles winner Jeff Cobb will defend his championship against Trevor Lee. The match will be Cobb’s first defense of the PWG World Championship. Cobb won the championship after defeating Walter in the main event of PWG’s last show, Smokey and the Bandido, on October 19, 2018 in Los Angeles, CA at the Globe Theatre. Cobb is the 23rd person to hold the PWG World Championship since August 30, 2003.
The match is also possibly Trevor Lee’s final appearance in PWG. Recently, Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Radio reported that Lee is expected to join World Wrestling Entertainment in the near future.
In a match for the Pro Wrestling Guerrilla World Tag Team Championship, The Rascalz (Zachary Wentz & Dezmond Xavier) will defend their titles against Best Friends (Chuck Taylor & Trent?). The match will be the first time Chuck Taylor and Trent? have teamed in PWG since March 18th, 2017 when they defeated The Leaders Of The New School (Marty Scurll & Zack Sabre Jr.) at Nice Boys (Don’t Play Rock N’ Roll).
It will also mark the PWG return of Trent? after suffering a torn bicep in a match against Chuck Taylor for the PWG World Championship on February 16th, 2018. The match will also be Chuck Taylor’s first in Pro Wrestling Guerrilla since losing the PWG World Championship to Keith Lee on March 23rd, 2018,
Also scheduled for Hand of Doom, Jungle Boy will make his Pro Wrestling Guerrilla debut against Brody King. Jonathan Gresham also makes his Pro Wrestling Guerrilla debut at Hand of Doom when he faces Robbie Eagles in one-on-one action.
Pro Wrestling Guerrilla’s Hand of Doom is also scheduled to feature Puma King going one-on-one against DJ Z in singles action, and LAX (Ortiz & Santana) going up against Flamita & Rey Horus in tag team action. Plus Flip Gordon makes his Pro Wrestling Guerrilla return when he goes one-on-one against Bandido.
