CZW Wired Title to be defended at March 26th Championship Wrestling from Hollywood tapings

At the Sunday February 26th Championship Wrestling from Hollywood tapings in Port Hueneme it was announced that Combat Zone Wrestling Wired champion Joey Janela will defend his title against YUMA at their tapings on March 26th. This will be Joey Janela’s second Southern California appearance, having previously appeared in PCW on their January 20, 2017 show. This will also mark the first time that a CZW title has been defended in Southern California since Adam Flash successfully defended the CZW Ironman title against B-Boy and Frankie Kazarian at EPIC’s “For the Messiah” on August 16, 2002.

When the bridge between Championship Wrestling from Hollywood and CZW began in 2015, the first wrestler to come over to CWFH was Drew Gulak. I asked YUMA, who is a former CWFH Hertitage Heavyweight champion, about the match with Janela, and he mentioned Gulak coming to CWFH is when he first became aware of Joey Janela. “[Gulak] told me ‘you gotta wrestle Joey Janela. It’s has to happen.’ So I sent a tweet to Joey that same day and the beef began gradually from there.”

After CZW officially joined the United Wrestling Network, “Pretty” Peter Avalon was sent to CZW to defend CWFH’s Hollywood Heritage title against Shane Strickland on August 13, 2016. On November 11, 2016 YUMA made his CZW debut, losing to Homicide. YUMA then returned to CZW in December, teaming with Kevin Martenson.

“I’d been trying to get a match with Janela since that first tweet and both times I went [to CZW] he was wrapped up in other stuff, like the Cage of Death match, and I got tired of seeing him not defending his title so I called him out. We’ve been going back and forth for a few months so I put out an official challenge and he accepted.” YUMA stated.

To mirror how the feud began, Joey Janela accepted the challenge via tweet, saying “I’m coming to Hollywood to shut [YUMA] up. I’m sick of his mouth then maybe I’ll give Dave Marquez a spine rattling stunner….”

“This whole beef reminds us that East and West coast wrestling is still very divided, but the United Wrestling Network is proving to be a source for matches we may never have gotten to see a few years back” YUMA added.

CWFH promoter David Marquez echoed that statement, saying “Connecting CZW and other promotions together through the United Wrestling Network sanctioning body allows networking and more opportunities, like this match.”

The match between YUMA and Joey Janela will be a part of CWFH’s regular television tapings on March 26th at the Oceanview Pavilion in Port Hueneme at 3:00 pm. Admission to the tapings is free.

In Southern California, Championship Wrestling from Hollywood airs every Saturday at 4:00 pm on KDOC in Los Angeles and CW6 in San Diego and 9:00 pm on YouToo America. It is also available on the Fite TV app.
