This month we take a look back at “Ladies Night”, the hall of fame, a stacked PWG show, and an interview with the “The Future” Frankie Kazarian.
One Year Ago
AWS ran its “Ladies Night” show. The show featured the match between Hudson Envy and Cheerleader Melissa that would go on the win the 2015 Southern California match of the year. Here is Mike Draven’s recap of the night.
Five Years Ago
Jay Cal wrote about the ceremony Mach 1 wrestling had to honor the 2010 inductees into the Southern California Pro-Wrestling Hall of Fame.
Ten Years Ago
PWG ran their “(Please Don’t Call It) the O.C.” event on May 6, 2006 with a show that featured Kevin Steen (Owens), El Generico (Sami Zayn), Claudio Castagnoli (Cesaro), American Dragon (Daniel Bryan), Austin Aires, Chris Sabin, Super Dragon, B-Boy, and Frankie Kazarian among other. In fact Rocky Romero versus TJ Perkins was the opener. How spoiled we once were.
Fifteen Years Ago
While he is being inducted into the EWF hall of fame this week, 15 years ago “The Future” Frankie Kazarian sat down with Josh Shibata for an interview shortly before he was “scheduled” to face Little Guido at that night’s MPW show. In reality Kazarian was told by UPW that if he wrestled on the show he would be pulled from WWE dark matches the next week. Kazarian would go out at the beginning of the show and vacate the title.
