Jay Cal’s View #161

Absorb what is useful, disregard what is useless and add what is essential to your own. I know a lot of people have been getting upset with show reviews, but trust me. Our site doesn’t make up a fraction of your audience. And it’s very flattering for those who have messaged to think otherwise, it’s simply not true. I’d also like to point out that the opinion of each column is represented by the writer of said column, review, what have you. The conversations are happening, people are talking about wrestling… this is a good thing.

Kudos
Eli Everly and Pinky Santino who won the Dual Cobras Tag Team Tournament at what for now will be the IWL Finale.  Andy Brown won The Battle Royal at EWF’s Superbowl Extravaganza.  And lastly to the former CWFH backstage interviewer, Catherine Kelly, congrats on her new gig with the WWE.  I’ve long said that we have talented individuals in this area.  Not just in wrestling.  I was really impressed with Mariachi Loco this weekend, he had a hell of a match CMLL’s (and UIPW’s Champion) Volador Jr.  I also think I know who I’m voting for in 2016 Rookie of the Year, Legacy.  Click here to read my review.

Empire Wrestling Federation: SB Strong
December 2nd 2015.  As some of you know I live in the Inland Empire.  I work in Colton.  Not far from where the deadly shootings took place.  Just a few weeks before Christmas.  My heart broke for the community and the victims and their families.  EWF will be holding a fundraiser for the victims of the 12/2 attacks on April 15th 2016.  The show will take place at the Fox Theater in Downtown San Bernardino, just a mile or two from where the shootings took place. Tickets will be as $10.  Anyone looking to help the benefit can contact the EWF Office.  San Bernadino has been synonymous with the Empire Wrestling Federation for as long as I can remember and I am planning to be in attendance.

Please Help Jon Ian & Ben Tomas
Last week I shared how you can help contribute to Jon Ian’s GoFundMe Account.  This week, I ask you help out another friend, Ben.  For those of you who don’t know Ben got really sick.  Much like Jon, those medical bills, even with insurance can be overwhelming.  Both of them have had lasting positive effects in Southern California and if you can spare it, please donate to both of them.

Insane Wrestling League on hiatus?
I like Vic Luna, I’ve never met the man, nor have I shook his hand. But we’ve talked a few times through social media. He has a passion for wrestling. I regrettably have never made it to an IWL match. I live minutes from his old venue in Chino, it seems as I moved in Vic moved out. I’m sorry to hear that the last show didn’t work out positively for him. Bruce Lee was noted for sharing a famous Japanese Proverb, “Fall seven times and stand up eight.” I really hope that his time away from promoting live shows will give Vic a chance to figure out what went wrong, what went right, and figure out a plan going forward that puts on great shows for everyone and benefit him financially. Come back stronger Vic!

United Wrestling Network
The biggest news over the past week was David Marquez visited with 12 promotions from up and down the East Coast and Midwest. Marquez mentioned “About 6 of them are on board and once we have everything in place we’ll make an announcement. One promotion might really shock you too.” Also it was announced that CWFH just gained clearance in Southern GA. Championship Wrestling from Hollywood is set to premiere on WSST-TV 51.
