The fragility of life only comes into question when we lose someone who was loved. Never waste an opportunity to show gratitude and share love as our time is fleeting…
This week’s Jay Cal’s View is dedicated to the memory of all of the wrestler brethren we’ve lost this year. Condolences to the family of The Drunken Irishman, who passed away earlier this week.
New Champions Crowned Last Week
Apostle Judah Mathew won the NWA Vendetta Pro Wrestling Underground Championship at September To Remember VI. Mathew defeated incumbent champion Ricky Ruffin in a Four-Way match that also featured the “Shogun of Harmlem” Jimi Mayhem and Alexander G. Bernard. Also Human Tornado defeated the “Charming One” Biagio Crescenzo for the Underground i-TV Championship. This was Crecenzo first lost in Underground Empire Wrestling, Tornado won the UiTV title after hitting with the DND from the top rope. Tornado is the 2nd Champion.
Kevin Owens win the WWE IC Championship
Another former Pro Wrestling Guerrilla World Champion has won championship in the WWE. Kevin Steen (Owens) meteoric rise through NXT and now the main WWE Roster has been nothing short of shocking. In less than a year he’s won the NXT title and has become the WWE Intercontinental Champion. It was always considered to be the #2 title in the WWE (with the exception of the two World Titles). Owens joins the likes of Daniel Bryan as former PWG World Champions that have went on to become WWE Intercontinental Champion. It should be noted that Cesnaro, a former US Champion is also a former PWG World Champion. Who do you think will be the next former PWG World Champion to make an Impact in the WWE? It’s Another Australian Invasion
The relationship between Southern California and the entire continent of Australia has been well documented right here on SoCal Uncensored. I wrote about the “Invasion of Western Australian Wrestlers” in 2010. With the likes of Bobby Marshal, Mikey Nichols, Shane Haste, Southern California has been blessed with a bevy of talented individuals hailing from the land down under.
Just last week “Cash Money” Carlo Cannon made his debut for Championship Wrestling from Hollywood. Since his arrival to Southern California, Cash Money has been training along with the CWFH Wrestle Center. Cannon was one of the first graduates of the Lance Storm Wrestling Academy.
And tonight… The Hive (Bee Boy and The Mantis) are set to debut at the Santinos Brothers tonight teaming to take on PPRay, Avalon and Rosas. The Hive have been stateside for a few weeks taking part of shows in CZW as well as CHIKARA. But tonight will be a limited opportunity to see the duo compete against maybe the best tag team in SoCal today. The duo will also be at IWL’s New Era X, which will probably be their last show while stateside. Which begs the question… why didn’t anyone book B-Boy vs. Bee Boy.
AWS: The Last Show… of 2015
Saturday Night will be the last show of the year for Alternative Wrestling Show. Give the man credit, Bart has booked some amazing talent (not just this year, but every year he’s been promoting) and had some awesome shows this year. I’ve listened to a handful of podcasts that Bart’s been on and I’ve yet to hear a definitive answer if AWS will return in 2016. My hope for Southern California that the turn out just blows away all expectations that Bart has and puts enough coin into his pocket so that he will definitely return. Needless to say Bart has been a great asset to the scene, he is one of the rare guys that goes out of his way to share events and posts information for other promotions via his social media networks. Front row is sold completely, second row is going fast… I couldn’t think of a greater send off (if this truly is the end) to pack the hall and send AWS off on a high note. Thanks for everything Bart.
United Wrestling Network
Sunday afternoon September 27th, CWFH returns to the Oceaview Pavilion in Pt. Hueneme with another round of television taping. “Boom Boom” Colt Cabana, who is fresh off of his tour in Russia, returns. Featuring: Hollywood Heritage Champion “Pretty” Peter Avalon, Colt Cabana, United Wrestling Network Television Champion “Main Event” James Morgan, Hollywood Heritage Tag Team Champions Timothy Thatcher & Drew Gulak, Hobo, and Vermin (who will be without Joey Ryan who is still competing in Japan for DDT) and more.
The UWN streaming service powered by Patreon is easily one of the best values in wrestling, with nearly 60 hours of wrestling content and the most current episodes of Championship Wrestling from Hollywood being uploaded weekly it really is perfect for any wrestling fan. Also if you’re a member of the subscription service there have been a few treasures from the David Marquez Wrestling Vault, these matches that have never aired on the CWFH Television Program; RockNES Monsters defending the Hollywood Heritage Tag Titles against Natural Selection with Percy Pringle III and Los Luchas, Daniel Bryan vs. Sean “X-Pac” Waltman, AJ Styles vs. Trent Barretta, and Chase Stevens & Andy Douglas (The Naturals) taking on Romeo Roseli & Antonio Thomas (The Heart Throbs). It’s perfect for those of us who do not have access KDOC-TV or YouToo America. Did you know KDOC-TV is moving the show to Saturdays at 4PM this October? This week Episode 227 (aired on September 13th) kicked off with Big Duke taking on Jared Vargas. A real back and forth between Dan Joseph and Mike Camden. Former friends Che Cabrera and Sasha Darevko practically destroying each other. “Cash Money” Carlo Cannon w/Ty Matthews challenging Jervis Cottonbelly and in the Main Event, the Hollywood Heritage Champion has his first defense against the former champion, YUMA.
