You can’t please all the people all the time. Hell, you can’t please all of the people some of the time. Find the people that dig you and crush it for them

This week in Jay Cal’s View I write about the 200th Episode of Championship Wrestling from Hollywood, the 2nd Race for the Ring Tournament (happening tonight), the United Wrestling Network Subscription service (have you not signed up for this yet, it’s a bargain) and Tough Enough.  Also this weeks upcoming events!

CWFH 200
The longevity of Championship Wrestling from Hollywood astounds me.  Some people didn’t give it a year, let alone five.  And over those 200 episodes, fans witnessed some pretty historical moments;  Colt Cabana winning his first NWA World Heavyweight Championship, Percy Pringle managing Natural Selection, Scorpio Sky win the Be The Star Tournament to become the first ever Television Champion, Willie Mack finally defeating Scorpio Sky to win the TV Title, the First Match of the Seven Levels of Hate, Shaun Ricker outlasting 30 other men to win the first Red Carpet Rumble and becoming the first Heritage Champion, and losing the title to Scorpio Sky moments later, and Adam Pearce ending his career in independent wrestling, also appearances by WWE’s Cesnaro, TNA’s Aries, and NXT’s Tye Dillinger and so many other great moments.  Cheers to David Marquez and everyone at Championship Wrestling from Hollywood for turning out 200 hours of wrestling programming featuring Southern California Talent in Southern California.  And many more.

Wrestling Cares & AWS
January 18th 2014 was the date that the Race for the Ring Tournament concluded in Gardena as part of the Wrestling Cares Association.  Johnny Gargano won the tournament.  That night “Winter” aka Katarina Leigh became the Ladies Beat the Champ Tournament and Oliver John and Timothy Thatcher won the Golden State Tag Team Tournament.  Returning from last years Woman’s Tournament will be Taeler Hendrix and returning from last years Tag Team Tournament will be Forever Hooligans.  Also competing in the Woman’s Tournament will be Brittany Wonder, Sage Sinn, Kahmora, Hania “The Howling Hunteress”, Datura, Nicole Savoy, Ruby Race, former AWS Ladies Champion Candace LaRae,  former AWS Ladies Champion Christina Von Eerie, Kikyo Nakamura, and Marriah Moreno.  In the tag team tournament there will also be former AWS Tag Champions Los Luchas, Reno Scum, Footlose, Suburban Commandos, reigning AWS Tag Champions PPray, and former AWS Tag Champions Los Bandidos.  Also B-Boy will defend his AWS Championship against Johnny Gargano and the Greek God Papadon.  It should be an awesome night of action as was last year’s Race for the Ring Tournament.

On the second night of action there will be; the conclusion of both Women’s and Tag Team Tournaments AWS Lightweight Gauntlet Roy which will be made up of Lil Cholo, Famous B, Mariachi Loco, Ryan Taylor, El Ridiculoso and SoCal Crazy, a Six Woman Tag Team Bout (featuring those who didn’t advance in the first two rounds) and a special none tournament tag team match featuring Johnny Gargano and Papadon vs. Willie Mack and B-Boy.

United Wrestling Network powered by Patreon
As promised the UWN has continued to be updated weekly.  Last week they uploaded AJ Styles vs. Trent Barretta from the Red Carpet Rumble, seeing that match live was incredible.  I can’t wait to see it.  Also recently uploaded was the 2 out of 3 falls match for the MAV TV Title between Ryan Taylor and Joey Ryan, a great tag team match up with the RockNES Monsters taking on Reno Scum and a lot more.

Are You Tough Enough?
The Miz, Shelly Martinez, Melina, and Eric Watts are the names I think of from Tough Enough who got their starts in Southern California.  It was either through auditioning for the show, or being on the show, that projected these SoCal mainstays to a national spotlight.  The Miz was apart of the UPW School, but surely Tough Enough is what got him to the WWE Roster.  Obviously John Morrison (outside of the Miz) who now competes in Luncha Underground, probably benefited the most from his time in Tough Enough.  Most of the original participants of TE that aired on MTV are no longer wrestling or out of the business entirely.  This seems like a no brainer to create additional content for the Network, but apparently this will be on USA.  Any wrestler who is interested should jump on this now.   Something of note… no pro wrestling experience is needed, say what?
