The Future of Mayhem Wrestling Entertainment

MWE Owner Pete Doyle addressed the future of his promotion on facebook today, this is directly from Pete Doyle:

Regarding MWE, so things don’t get misconstrued. MWE

While we put on some really solid shows with real strong talent, the fact is, in So Cal, it’s near impossible these days to make a profitable business out of pro wrestling (unless of course you have unlimited funds).
From a business stand point, at this juncture, it makes no sense to run shows until a venue that meets the needs and business model of MWE is found.
I’m not a ‘money mark’ who just salivates on bringing in talent just to spend a day in the locker room with them. The intentions of MWE was to simply put on shows that would give talent a place to work while making a paycheck. I have always said I would not put a show on if I could not pay talent. Contrary to one or two incorrect reports, I always paid talent. I still can, but I have chosen to not let the MWE funds be exploited by shows that are not profitable in an area that is saturated with many promotions and great talent.
In saying that MWE will continue, however in a different format which will be announced here soon.

To address an angle that appeared on the last show, here are the facts. The ‘incident’ between Kyle Webb and I was a work. We had planned to utilize many social media outlets and wrestling platforms to get it over. We worked the boys, which was my idea, out of concern for the angle. Since Kyle is not well liked (misunderstood in my opinion), I felt someone may expose the angle to the fans or simply shit on it. Kyle Webb is a solid worker and a good guy who is maybe a little too ‘in your face’ for some. That’s just my opinion.

So, with MWE, it’s 100% my choice to hold off for now. I could easily run more shows, but to me it’s not worth it from a business standpoint. These are decisions you must make when dealing with a company.
As mentioned, MWE will be running on a different platform soon. Stay tuned!
