This Chaos Column is a recap of SCP “Rumble in Oceanside” at the Boys & Girls Club of Oceanside. Another strong crowd on hand for SCP’s annual rumble event, even if the night turned out to be a night of villainy.
P – Big Duke p. a debuting Dragon Yuki w/ the 2nd big boot to the face.
* SCP Heavyweight Champion SoCal Crazy & SCP Golden State Champion Kid Caramba come out w/ the SCP Tag Team titles, w/ SoCal Crazy calling out Anchors Away.
1 – Anchors Away (David E. Jones & Ryan Stone) won the SCP tag team titles from SoCal Crazy & Kid Caramba. Lovin’ Nick Lovin distracted SoCal Crazy & Kid Caramba as they brawled w/ the Anchors Away duo, even going so far as to throw powder into SoCal Crazy’s face, allowing Ryan Stone to hit a Last Ride Powerbomb for the clincher.
2 – Johnny Yuma (subbing for an injured Tommy Wilson) p. Jimmy Ray Walker w/ the Leg Sweep Stunner in a decent, even match.
SM – “Mighty Morphin” Frosted Tip Warriors (Ryan Kidd & Eddie Randall) def. The Mirror Image Megastars duo of Ricky Mandel & Joey Barone. Donning “Power Rangers”-inspired trunks, FTW got the win w/ the Top Rope Leg Drop / 450 Splash combo on Joey Barone for a team pin. As it would turn out, they would be the only faces to win on the card.
* After the match, Ricky Mandel called out to commentator Jeff Reznick, demanding an apology in the wake of his comments re: his match w/ Kid Caramba at last month’s Super Clash show. A quick beatdown on Jeff Reznick followed, which drew out FTW & a returning White Trash Flash (accompanied by his “special guest valet” in former Playboy Playmate/Centerfold Heather Rene Smith who was there for an appearance through American Icon Autographs) to make the save.
M – The 20-man Oceanside Rumble followed intermission–a 1-min. interval match w/ Lovin’ Nick Lovin taking the place of an injured Tommy Wilson at #2, neck injury or not. A few other wrestlers debuted for the promotion, but didn’t last very long. Final 5 were: Destro, Big Duke, Lovin’ Nick Lovin, Ricky Mandel, & Johnny Yuma. Destro & Ricky Mandel eliminated Johnny Yuma, then it was Big Duke who eliminated Ricky Mandel w/ a Low Bridge, then Destro. Tommy Wilson, though, then intervened, allowing Nick Lovin to throw Big Duke over the top rope to win the rumble, and earn his shot at SoCal Crazy & the SCP Heavyweight title on 11/17.
If Lovin’ Nick Lovin wants to back up his words on returning the favor & putting SoCal Crazy out for a long time, if not forever, this would be the time to do it.
