BTWNCHAOSNORDER’S gives a recap of 1/27/12 Dragon Gate USA “Open The Golden Gate” iPPV from DGUSA’s “Open The Golden Gate” iPPV Jan. 27st From WRESTLEREUNION 6. Strong crowd on hand for this opening show of WrestleReunion 6, where everything else was all about VIP exclusives. As mentioned recently, Low Ki replaced an injured Johnny Gargano at the show, and he was among those that participated in the meet & greet along w/ The Young Bucks, and many of the Japanese Dragon Gate stars, including PWG veterans CIMA, Masato Yoshino, & Akira Tozawa.
1 – Low Ki p. BxB Hulk (w/ new Blood Warriors leader Akira Tozawa) w/ the Warrior’s Way in a great opener.
* Before the next match, Chuck Taylor hit the ring, making the announcement that his fellow Ronin tag team partner, Rich Swann, missed his flight and couldn’t make it to L.A. He was later interrupted by his opponents, The Young Bucks (Matt & Nick Jackson), who then proceeded to attack him. Fortunately for Chuckie T, his replacement partner came out in the form of Scorpio Sky.
2 – The Young Bucks def. Chuck Taylor & Scorpio Sky when they hit the More Bang For Your Buck on Scorpio Sky for a team pin, ending an otherwise crazy, even tag team match. Maybe the current NWA International TV Champion has more DGUSA dates in his future.
3 – Junction III member Masato Yoshino made Blood Warriors member Naruki Doi tapout to his “Sol Naciente Kai” submission hold, which looks like a modified triangle submission hold w/ a double-cross armbar. Great match, w/ a great showing of the two’s puroresu style.
4 – Anything Goes Tables Match between two men w/ a grudge after the final wrestling show at The Asylum in South Philly. Sami Callahan put AR Fox through the table that was propped to the barricade. One of the extra barricades was bent apart real badly after a pair of high spots that saw Sami put AR Fox onto it. Perhaps that was more than enough for him to put him through the table, in which one of the legs had broken apart. Brutal action!
5 – After intermission, Jon Davis p. Caleb Konley w/ a powerbomb off of a huge Pounce. Caleb Konley’s’ “A-Listers” included Buggy.
SM – Akira Tozawa (w/ BxB Hulk) p. PAC w/ the Bridging Straight Jacket German Suplex. Despite getting busted open at the corner of his right eyebrow early on, Tozawa was able to dish out as much punishment on “The Man that Gravity Forgot” as PAC did to him.
M – CIMA & Ricochet successfully defended the DGUSA “Open the United Gate” Tag Team titles, def. Junction III members Masaaki Mochizukui & Jimmy Susumu (Yokosuka). With CIMA having been kicked out of Blood Warriors earlier in the month at the Japan shows, he was playing face that offsetted some of Ricochet’s Blood Warriors heel tactics. Match started slow & technical, but picked up steam late with some crazy team moves & alot of near-falls. CIMA finally got the winning pin on Jimmy Susumu w/ the “Meteora” modified top rope double stomp. Tozawa & BxB Hulk attacked afterwards, but were defused by Low Ki, who cut a great promo. CIMA & Ricochet closed out the iPPV.
Personally, more people could’ve seen what was a very strong card for Gabe Sapolsky & the DGUSA brass, which should definitely set the tone for the rest of WrestleReunion 6. Tozawa did his best to play the heel part, which definitely didn’t work out that well in a crowd full of PWG fans. The tag team title match gets my narrow nod for match of the night, but the Tozawa/PAC match & the Yoshino/Doi match were very close by in terms of energy & excitement. AR Fox took quite a beating in his hardcore match, and he could definitely use a day to heal as much as he can before making his PWG debut.
