Jay Cal’s View #50

I’ll be the first to admit it’s been a slow news week.  Some good shows have shaped up for the weekend, Battleground might have a Match of the Year Candidate. Check out this week’s schedule, plus news on Mach-1, NWA Hollywood & Toys for Tots, plus PWG updates and who the hell is the Real Cardinal Kid?

Bring the November Pain!
Battleground Pro Wrestling is embarking on their biggest event of the year. Coming off a show that saw Rico Dynamite become Battleground Champion, a re-match has been scheduled by the front office to give Mikey a re-match, in an I Quit Match.  Making his debut for BPW is Willie Mack.  No opponent has been announced just yet, but Mack always puts on an awe inspiring performance.  Not to mention the Lumberjack Match Tag Team bout featuring the Suburban Commandos vs The Brothers Darevko.  But the sleeper match of the night features 2 Championships on the line between three men.  Joey Ryan the West Coast Wrestling Company Champion puts his title on the line with B-Boy and his Ring Warrior Title and Famous B.  Joey Ryan often looked as a top tier performer in our area, B-Boy reminding everyone just how good he really is, and Famous B showing just why he is the hottest free agent in pro-wrestling today.  This show should be great and a good value for your money, $10 a ticket.  Get out to Los Alamitos this weekend and see for yourself.

Who is the Real Cardinal Kid?
Is he legend or is he Legendary!  Gary Ludens has taken to twitter and demands that you follow him.  “I gave Dennis Stamp his famous trampoline, after it wouldn’t fit in the side yard of my summer home in Sarasota. The tiny dumbells were his,” is just one of the 149 characters of wisdom you’ll find for the often imitated innovator of everything in Wrestling, follow for a laugh, follow for the wisdom, but if you don’t follow him he’s going to steal my lunch money.

Mach-1 Wrestling remains on hiatus
Mach-1 Wrestling will stay dark for the remainder of the year.  This was a little unexpected for me.  Seemingly as we get closer to the end of the year, every year promotions slow down, but this was earlier than expected.  I’ve spoke to Jon Ian and the plan is to return in 2012 with the 2nd Annual New Year’s Day Cup.

Free Admission for NWA HollywoodAlready a hell of a line up.  Pearce defends the Worlds Title against Ricker, Scorpio Sky defends the TV title against Johnny Yuma a Steel Cage Match between Taylor and Avalon and Kaos & Madrid vs. the Disorder… Bring an unwrapped Toy for the Toys for Tots Campaign.

Pro Wrestling Guerrilla bringing in Dragon Gate
We’re just under a month away from PWG’s FEAR and already announcements for PWG’s next show are being made, the next date will be January 29th.  It’ll feature some of the top tier talent from Dragon Gate.   BxB Hulk, Masaaki Mochizuki, CIMA, Naruki Doi, Susumu Yokosuka, Masato Yoshino, PAC, and Akira Tozawa!
