Jay Cal’s View #41

This week, NWA Championship Wrestling from Hollywood showcased its 52nd Episode, one year of promoting television.  Last week we mentioned Scorpio Sky joining the NWA World Jr. Heavyweight Title Tournament, check this EPIC promotional video for not the event.  Get your Guerrilla tickets while they are hot.  No Mach-1 Wrestling this week, but check out these up-coming events, with more SoCal Pro then you can shake a stick at.NWA Championship Wrestling from Hollywood
Last Sunday I spent the better part of six hours getting to, watching, and coming home from the NWA Hollywood TV.  Last week the show officially aired its 52nd episode.  An entire year of television.  While many will say that this isn’t a big deal, I think it is actually a pretty fantastic.  When was the last time a locally produced television show lasted 52 episodes.  Some of my favorite matches over the course of the year have been Famous B. vs. Ray Rosas, Joey Ryan vs. TJ Perkins, The RockNES Monsters vs. Los Luchas, Nick Madrid vs. Kaos, Scorpio Sky vs. SoCal Crazy, and of course, NWA Worlds Championship Match between Adam Pearce and Colt Cabana.  I believe that match set the tone for the entire Television Series.  Over the course of the year long television a lot of familiar faces have come and gone.  A lot of new faces have showed up and a lot of very talented wrestlers have been given the opportunity to showcase their abilities in the ring.    Say what you will about the NWA Championship Wrestling from Hollywood.  The Next NWA Hollywood TV Taping will take place October 8th.

A Rivalry Renewed? – NWA ‘Revival’ on 10.07.11 …
Gary Yap recently produced a video showcasing the rivalry from “Tornado” Tony Kozina and Scorpio Sky during their time in EPIC.  If I’m not mistaken, I believe Yap was the first person to bring Tony Kozina to this area.  Watch it here. Coincidentally enough, both Sky and Kozina have been announced for the NWA World Junior Title Tournament that happens October 7th in North Carolina.  I spoke to Sky over the weekend at the NWA Hollywood Television Taping.  We were speaking about the tournament and said he wasn’t even sure who else was on the tournament.  When I mentioned Kozina, he mentioned this feud in EPIC.  And although this tournament doesn’t have much to do with Southern California wrestling, I do find it intriguing that Sky and Kozina had this feud in Southern California and there is a chance that their rivalry could be renewed at this tournament.

Mach-1 Wrestling will be dark this week
And until a new venue is announced Mach-1 will be on hiatus.  The official release mentions moving to a bigger and better venue.   Its weird as I work on this Jay Cal’s View not to put up show information for M1W.  Personally I really enjoyed my visits to the American Sports Center in Anaheim.  I really thought, although small, it was a perfect venue for M1W.  Mach-1 is really the only promotion that has ran weekly, which became a trademark for the company after they started in that building.  The statement by M1W also sounds hopeful that they’ll be back running weekly shows, when they are all set up.  I’ve heard some rumblings that the new location, will not be too far away from the American Sports Center.

SOLD OUT!
Front Row Ticket for Pro Wrestling Guerrilla’s “Steen Wolf” are completely sold out.  Some speculate  its because Los Luchas are going to take on The Dynasty or because TJ Perkins will do battle with Rocky Romero, or maybe even its because Ray Rosas is set to debut.  Others speculate its because the “Anti-Christ of Professional Wrestling” Kevin Steen will be defending his PWG World Championship against long time rival El Generico and the two will square off in a ladder match.  Either way, make sure you get your tickets soon, before its completely sold out.
