Jay Cal’s View #9

What a month? With the announcement of Television deals, big shows just about every week, SoCal Talent heading to Mexico and to the East Coast, it really seems like the area has been slightly revitalized. My highlight of the weekend will be the NWA Pro/Mach-1 show the Centre City Slam. Don’t forget, Steve Corino comes to town for a W101 Seminar, Sindarin is announced for the Chikara’s Young Lion’s Cup and Scorpio Sky heads to Mexico. Plus the weekends events and the past week’s results. In a month where it seems like every weekend has been packed with some of the biggest events of the year, this Saturday July 24th, Mach-1 officially puts its contribution to the month of endless big events. Last weekend was SoCal Pro’s Collision Course 4 and FMLL’s Lucha Mania USA. Next week will be the big PWG Seven show. The NWA Sanctioned M1W will be joining the Comic Con festivities in San Diego, “Where Happiness Happens.” Centre City Slam will take place at the Downtown YMCA, where NWA Pro Wrestling previously ran back in 2006. Only Pro Wrestling Guerrilla would rival such a fight card in terms of star power and wrestling prowess. Former WWE Stars, Shelton Benjamin, Paul London, and Brian Kendrick join former ECW wrestler Steve Corino in a clash with the stars of Championship Wrestling from Hollywood. From top to bottom the card looks very stacked.

Steve Corino Wrestling Seminar will be held at 10am on Saturday, July 24th, at the “Wrestling 101” Training Facility, located at the American Sports Center in Anaheim CA, home of the weekly M1W “Friday Fight Night” wrestling shows. The cost of the seminar is $50. For information on how to sign up for this tremendous opportunity, email “Wrestling 101” at info@m1wrestling.com with “Corino” on the subject line, or call (714) 261-4861 for details.

Congratulations to Sindarin in being a part of this year’s Chikara’s Young Lion’s Cup.The Annual Rookie Showcase, Young Lions Cup VIII will take place from August 27th through August 29th Reading, PA. Former Epic Pro Wrestling WAR Champion Tim Donst is the current Lions Cup Champion.

Scorpio Sky has had quite the run the past few months here in Southern California. He was the sole survivor of the 159 Person Battle Royal that closed out the AWS Finale. He appeared at the Lucha Maina USA tour with FMLL last weekend. And just announced, Scorpio Sky will be heading to Mexico to take part of the Perros Del Mal show for the Lucha Libre Experiencia in Mexico. The show will also be recorded for the Masked Republic/Big Vision joint effort, Viva La Lucha PPV. Also appearing from SoCal on the July 25th card Supreme. Former WWE/TNA/AWS Star Shelly Martinez, and TJ Perkins.
