Pro Wrestling Guerrilla’s SEVEN on Friday, July 30, 2010!

On July 26, 2003, the first ever Pro Wrestling Guerrilla event was held in City of Industry, CA. Just over seven years later on July 30, 2010, the one-hundred-fourteenth Pro Wrestling Guerrilla event will be held in Reseda, CA, simply titled Seven. However, this event will be more than the commemoration of a milestone for Pro Wrestling Guerrilla, it will also be a celebration of a ten year professional wrestling career coming to a close that very night. On July 30, 2010, not only will the lucky fans in attendance see a Pro Wrestling Guerrilla World Championship title defense, a World Tag Team Championship title defense, the first ever Tag Team Guerrilla Warfare match, but they will also witness the final match in the storied career of “The Professional” Scott Lost.

Pro Wrestling Guerrilla’s Seven takes place on Friday, July 30, 2010, at 8:00PM at American Legion Post #308 in Reseda, CA. Front Row Tickets are $30 each, and General Admission Tickets are $25 each, and they are on sale now on the Pro Wrestling Guerrilla Ticket Page. Pro Wrestling Guerrilla’s Seven is scheduled to feature:

Scott Lost Retirement Match
“The Professional” Scott Lost vs. Scorpio Sky

— For ten years Scott Lost has wrestled professionally in venues large and small, home and abroad, and for ten years, Scott Lost has been living his childhood dream. On July 30, 2010, Scott Lost will end his career as a professional wrestler on his own terms, in a match against a man that has oscillated between enemy and ally, a man that outside of the ring has become one of Scott’s best friends. In his final match, Scott Lost will face off with the returning Scorpio Sky.

Scott Lost’s career as a professional wrestler started in 2000, when he began training with Ultimate Pro Wrestling, the promotion with which he would have his first ever match later that year. In 2001, Scott would expand his horizons and start wrestling for promotions all over Southern California, including Pro Wrestling Guerrilla progenitor Revolution Pro, often times wrestling four to five matches in a single weekend. From very early on it was evident that with his dedication and natural ability, Scott Lost was uniquely skilled at professional wrestling, and he quickly became one of the top prospects in Southern California. In 2003, Scott joined up with a band of talented, handsome, and like-minded individuals to help co-found Pro Wrestling Guerrilla, and were that his only contribution his name would still be indelibly etched in the professional wrestling history books. But in 2003, Scott Lost was just getting started.

In the past seven years, Scott Lost has gained a reputation as one of the best tag team wrestlers of his generation, and with good reason. Along with “Photogenic” Chris Bosh, Lost set the standard for all future tag teams in Pro Wrestling Guerrilla, and in independent wrestling in general, the standard which tag teams are still judged by to this day. As a five-time former Pro Wrestling Guerrilla World Tag Team champion, Scott is tied for having the most title reigns in the history of the championship, a feat which may never be rivaled or broken. On top of that, despite never holding the Pro Wrestling Guerrilla World Championship, Lost is a hugely accomplished singles wrestler, and has long been considered to be one of the most underrated competitors in professional wrestling.

With all of these accomplishments, and too many further accolades to possibly name, Scott Lost can leave the world of professional wrestling behind with his head held high. He has lived his dream and exceeded his wildest expectations, leaving his mark on professional wrestling forever. Fans of Pro Wrestling Guerrilla, and professional wrestling at large, will not soon forget the name Scott Lost, and as those fans will most certainly do on July 30 at Seven, we would like to thank Scott for his hard work and dedication through the years. It won’t be the same without you.

Pro Wrestling Guerrilla World Championship Title Match
Davey Richards (Champion) vs. Chris Hero (Challenger)

— When Chris Hero‘s record breaking World Championship title reign was ended by Bryan Danielson (in what was thought to be his final Pro Wrestling Guerrilla match) at Guerre Sans Frontières, Hero knew he would not get another shot at Danielson in order to win back the title, but he was looking forward to a chance to take on whoever won the 2009 Battle of Los Angeles and became the new World Champion. After Kenny Omega was crowned champion in late 2009, many anticipated that his first title defense would be against Chris Hero, however due to scheduling conflicts it was just not meant to be. Omega would put the title on the line against, and ultimately lose the title to, Davey Richards, who holds the title to this day. Nearly a year after losing the title Chris Hero will get his chance to recover the Pro Wrestling Guerrilla World Championship, but it might end up being the toughest fight of his career.

Davey Richards’ story in Pro Wrestling Guerrilla, and professional wrestling in general for that matter, is truly inspiring. For his first handful of appearances in Pro Wrestling Guerrilla, Davey would endure twenty-four hour Greyhound bus rides to Los Angeles just for the chance to compete. His dedication quickly paid off, when just a month after entering the 2005 Battle of Los Angeles tournament as an alternate, Davey Richards became part of one of the most dominant tag teams in Pro Wrestling Guerrilla history, holding the World Tag Team Championship with Super Dragon. After losing the Tag Team titles, Richards would excel as both a singles competitor (winning the 2006 Battle of Los Angeles) and again as a tag team competitor (winning the Tag Team titles twice more), however the one prize that continually eluded Richards was the Pro Wrestling Guerrilla World Championship title. On February 27, 2010, at As The Worm Turns, Richards’ title chase ended when he defeated Kenny Omega to win the World Championship.

Shortly after Davey Richards won the title he was selected to participate in the prestigious Best of the Super Junior tournament by New Japan Pro Wrestling. In just a few short years, Davey went from long bus rides to ply his trade to long plane rides (business class, obviously). Davey’s inclusion in this tournament (alongside former World Champion Kenny Omega) wrought havoc on his scheduled title defenses, however now that the tournament has concluded, Davey Richards is ready to defend his title against any and all that would challenge him. The Pro Wrestling Guerrilla World Championship title is the culmination of five years worth of ridiculously hard work on the part of Davey Richards, and to return to America and Pro Wrestling Guerrilla only to lose the title to Chris Hero would be, according to Richards, completely unimaginable.

Pro Wrestling Guerrilla World Tag Team Championship Title Match
¡Peligro Abejas (El Generico & Paul London – Champions) vs. Motor City Machine Guns (Chris Sabin & Alex Shelley – Challengers)

— If El Generico and Paul London thought that the road to a Young Bucks-ian type of World Tag Team Championship title reign was easy (though no one really thinks the longest and winningest title reign in Pro Wrestling Guerrilla history is easy, it provides an easy transition to the details of the match), ¡Peligro Abejas! will find out just how tough that type of reign is when they face the Motor City Machine Guns at Seven. Early on in The Young Bucks reign, the Jackson brothers defended the titles against Chris Sabin and Alex Shelley in a match that, to this day, is considered to be one of the toughest of the Bucks’ career. While luck may have been on the side of the champions at Ninety-Nine when the Guns challenged the Bucks, Sabin and Shelley are going to do everything in their power to swing the balance in their favor when they take on El Generico and Paul London at Seven.

Since winning the World Tag Team Championship at this year’s DDT4 (in stock and on sale right now at the Pro Wrestling Guerrilla Merchandise Page), ¡Peligro Abejas! have been inundated with requests from orphanages around the world to take up their cause and help raise awareness for this woefully under-funded charitable sector. While El Generico and Paul London are doing all they can to help the orphaned children of their hometowns, they would like to encourage all fans of Pro Wrestling Guerrilla to direct their charitable contribution to SOS Children’s Villages, an organization that helps find a loving family environment for orphaned or abandoned children, so that the World Tag Team Champions can worry less about fund raising and worry more about defending the titles, especially with a difficult title defense against the Motor City Machine Guns coming up at Seven!

Singles Match
“American Dragon” Bryan Danielson vs. Roderick Strong

— When Bryan Danielson defeated Chris Hero in an epic World Championship title match at Guerre Sans Frontières last September, Pro Wrestling Guerrilla fans and staff alike thought they had seen the last of the “American Dragon” on the independent scene. However, in a shocking turn of events, Bryan Danielson was unceremoniously dumped to the freelance market after suffocating international popular music sensation Justin Bieber with a dry cleaning bag. Or something. We’re not really big on details. Either way, we consider ourselves lucky to have a two-time former World Champion such as Danielson back in the Pro Wrestling Guerrilla locker room.

One person that is not happy to see the return of Bryan Danielson to Pro Wrestling Guerrilla is Roderick Strong. In fact, you could say that Roderick Strong is somewhat displeased. Roderick bears no ill-will toward Danielson, nor does he harbor any great personal dislike toward the man. However, Danielson reappearance in Pro Wrestling Guerrilla means that their is one more top tier competitor standing in between Roderick Strong and the Pro Wrestling Guerrilla World Championship, and a competitor that could invoke his rematch clause as a former champion, as well. If Roderick has any hope of making another attempt to dethrone Davey Richards (or challenge Chris Hero for the title) in 2010, Strong must start chalking up victories to build himself back up as a number one contender. A victory over a former champion and (alleged) murderer like Bryan Danielson could only serve to catapult Roderick Strong back near the top of the list of challengers.

Tag Team Guerrilla Warfare Match
The Cutler Brothers (Brandon & Dustin Cutler) vs. The Young Bucks (Matt & Nick Jackson)

— In early June at DIO!, Brandon and Dustin Cutler, along with Joey Ryan, defeated the so-called “Jackson 3,” the team of Malachi “CK” Jackson and his older brothers Matt and Nick, The Young Bucks. This victory marked the first time the Cutlers had even been victorious over the Bucks in Pro Wrestling Guerrilla in any fashion, and while one can imagine Brandon and Dustin would have preferred that the victory had come when The Young Bucks held the World Tag Team Championship, a win is a win.

And a loss is a loss to The Young Bucks, as well. When their record-breaking reign as Tag Team champions ended at DDT4, it was not the first time the Jacksons had lost in recent memory, but it was their most significant defeat to date. When the Bucks were defeated in the six-man tag team match at DIO!, handing the former champions their second defeat in as many months, it marked the first time in two and a half years that The Young Bucks lost two matches in a row. For a team used to winning, even dominating, such as The Young Bucks are, back to back losses are a tough pill to swallow, especially when one comes at the hands of long-time rivals.

So angered by the loss were the Bucks that they demanded a rematch with the Cutlers at Seven, so they could once again prove their supremacy against the other (not the other other) pair of brothers in Pro Wrestling Guerrilla. The mysterious Board of Directors, however, had other ideas. Each time The Young Bucks and The Cutler Brothers have faced off, the stakes were high because the Pro Wrestling Guerrilla World Tag Team Championship was up for grabs. This time the proposed match would be for nothing more than the personal pride of the four men involved. If that was to be the case, then the Board of Directors were intent on making things interesting. And what could be more interesting than a Guerrilla Warfare match, the most brutal match Pro Wrestling Guerrilla has to offer? Why, the first ever Tag Team Guerrilla Warfare match, of course! Twice the competitors, twice the excitement, and twice the danger!

Pro Wrestling Guerrilla’s Seven will also feature:

Singles Match
Brandon Bonham vs. Brian Cage

Six-Person Tag Team Match
Brandon Gatson, Johnny Goodtime, & Candice LeRae vs. Malachi “CK” Jackson, Ryan Taylor, & Akira Tozawa

For those wondering, Joey Ryan will be out of town on July 30, 2010, and Jerome “LTP” Robinson will be taking a sabbatical from professional wrestling. We join the fans in looking forward to their return.
