LUCHA VAVOOM RETURNS HOME AFTER NEW YORK INVASION; HALLOWEEN SPECTACULAR TAKES PLACES OCTOBER 28-29 AT THE MAYAN
LOS ANGELES, October 7, 2009 — Fresh from corrupting New York with their patented blend of “sexo y violencia,” Lucha VaVOOM returns to its birthplace for two nights of Halloween-themed madness, October 28 and 29 at the Mayan Theatre in downtown Los Angeles. Tickets are on sale now via Ticketweb.com.
A non-stop, action-packed scream-a-thon, described by the Los Angeles Times as “post-punk vaudeville,” Lucha VaVOOM alternates between high-octane lucha libre wrestling and temperature-rising burlesque performances. For these Halloween week shows, four bouts of good vs. evil will be fought before your very eyes. In a match of godly proportions, the Tijuana tag teams of Maquiavelico and Zeus will square off against Horus and Phantom, warming up the mat for Day of the Dead duo Las Calaveras who will take on Hombre Invisible and the dastardly Dirty Sanchez.
Equal parts ferocious as he is flamboyant Cassandro will show why he is “Queen of the Ring” as he challenges the villainous Villano III in a Bull Terrier match where the two will be chained together. For the super estrella finale, crowd favorite the Mini Chicken returns to fight some new foes. This time he is teaming up with his fowl friends Los Crazy Chickens as they battle the venomous Mexican goatsucker Chupacabra and his new hatchlings, the Chupacabritas. Look out! They are more deadly than they are cute.
In between matches, the finest handpicked burlesque beauties from around the country will perform a variety of terrifying and titillating acts, ensuring there’s never a dull moment. LA’s very own Voodoo Queen Victoria Vengeance, Straight Jacketed Moana Santana and Metropolis Robot Lux LaCroix will be joined by special guest, the Chicago booty-shaker herself, Michelle L’Amour. The night will come to a climax with international dance star and hula-hoop hot stuff Karis and the Lucha VaVOOM debut of pole master and expert aerialist, Leigh Acosta.
The evening of thrill-a-minute entertainment will be presided over by master of ceremonies Blaine Capatch (“Web Soup,” “Mind of Mencia,” “Mad TV”) who will be joined by some of his comrades in comedy. Both Tom Kenny, the voice of “Spongebob Squarepants” and comedian Greg Proops (“Whose Line Is It Anyway?,” “Chelsea Lately”) will inject the testosterone-filled matches with a dose of funny on night number 1. The second night will feature guest comedian Dana Gould (“The Simpsons”) who will throw out bon mots as fast as the wrestlers throw blows.
