Important Information Regarding 2008 Battle of Los Angeles

The very nature of the professional wrestling industry is one of constant change and evolution, and even the stolid force known as Pro Wrestling Guerrilla, so unused to change, is forced to make concessions sometime. What does this vague reference to corporate fluidity mean? Well, we are sad to report that due to scheduling conflicts, we have been forced to postpone the 2008 Battle of Los Angeles until later in the year (tentatively scheduled for October-November).We understand that this move will be unpopular with some fans, disappointing to others, and a combination of both to the rest. However, please be assured that the postponement of the 2008 Battle of Los Angeles is really for the best. Shortly after last year’s tournament, we began contacting individuals regarding their participation in the 2008 Battle of Los Angeles, and many of those individual expressed a great deal of interest in participating in the 2008 tournament. After receiving confirmation from the participants in the 2008 Battle of Los Angeles, we moved forward with announcing dates and venues for the tournament and began the promotional process. However, shortly after announcing that information, we were informed that due to contractual or other obligations, almost 1/4 of the previously confirmed lineup would be unavailable for the 2008 Battle of Los Angeles.

Rather than scramble and attempt to find new participants for the tournament on somewhat short notice, we determined that it would be in the best interest of both the fans and Pro Wrestling Guerrilla to postpone the tournament until we are able to fill the ranks of the tournament with a lineup that more closely resembles our original intentions. While we know the news is disappointing, and we hope that our fans will understand, it’s not all bad news.

Due to the large number of wrestlers who are already booked for Pro Wrestling Guerrilla for the last weekend in August, we have decided to move ahead with All Star Weekend 7! The first name announced for the 2008 Battle of Los Angeles, “The Man That Gravity Forgot” PAC, now becomes the first name announced for Pro Wrestling Guerrilla’s All Star Weekend 7! Exact dates for All Star Weekend 7 are still being worked out, but it will take place on two consecutive nights during the weekend of August 29, 2008, at American Legion Post #308 in Reseda, CA. More information regarding dates and lineup will be announced at Pro Wrestling Guerrilla’s 5th anniversary show, Life During Wartime, on Sunday, July 6, 2008!

Also, we realize a great many fans were planning on traveling long distances in order to attend the 2008 Battle of Los Angeles, and that, especially during times like these, air travel is not always cheap. That is why we would like to extend a special apology to those fans who have already booked air travel to the Los Angeles area for the 2008 Battle of Los Angeles. If you are still planning on being in the Los Angeles for the weekend of Friday, August 29 through Sunday, August 31, 2008, we would like to offer you a complimentary two-night pass to Pro Wrestling Guerrilla’s All Star Weekend 7. If you have booked your air travel to Los Angeles prior to June 25, 2008, please email support@prowrestlingguerrilla.com for information on how to receive your complimentary tickets.

Again, we appreciate the dedication and support of the fans of Pro Wrestling Guerrilla around the world, and we hope you accept our sincerest apologies for this unforeseen change in schedule. We hope you will understand that the rescheduling of the 2008 Battle of Los Angeles and All Star Weekend 7 really will be for the best and that both events will be bigger and better than ever before.
