2007 Battle of Los Angeles Information (08/29 #2)

August 29 Update 2

– Earlier today, we announced that Tony Kozina would be taking the place of PWG World Champion “American Dragon” Bryan Danielson in the 2007 Battle of Los Angeles tournament. Danielson was injured this past weekend, and had eye surgery on Monday to repair a detached retina which will keep him out of action for 4 to 6 weeks. After news of Danielson’s injury spread, we were contacted by an old friend of PWG who was interested in competing in the tournament. In fact, this individual stated “You can’t have a tournament with the best in the world without me.” While we were inclined to agree with the statement, some things were just not meant to be. That is, until earlier today. We’re not sure how it happened, whether the stars aligned, the tides were just right, or he found out his Burning Man tickets were counterfeit, but for one weekend only, Alex Shelley will return to Pro Wrestling Guerrilla. With Tony Kozina taking the place of Bryan Danielson, that brought the tournament field back to 24 participants, so it would seem that Alex Shelley is without a place in the tournament. However, since PWG has been presented with this unique opportunity, after much internal discussion, we have decided to make the most of it. In his preparation for the 2007 Battle of Los Angeles, Super Dragon has decided that he is not 100% ready to return to the ring, and would therefore forfeit his place in the tournament. With Super Dragon stepping aside, that allows Alex Shelley a chance to compete in the tournament and prove that he truly is the best in the world. Taking Super Dragon’s place in the C Block, and facing PWG World Tag Team Champion El Generico on Night 2 of the tournament will be Tony Kozina. Taking Kozina’s place on Night 1 of the 2007 Battle of Los Angeles, Alex Shelley will now be taking on Tyler Black.

We hope you fans will agree that the addition of Alex Shelley, as well as the new tournament match ups only strengthen the 2007 Battle of Los Angeles as a whole, and will join us on all three nights this weekend. Remember, you have less than 24 hours left to pre-purchase your tickets and guarantee yourself a seat for what will undoubtedly be a tremendous weekend of professional wrestling.
