PWG’s DDT4 Tag Tournament Updates
By Silverback, PWG Staff Writer
Cardiff-by-the-Sea, CA – In the criminal justice system, the people are represented by two separate yet equally important groups; the police who investigate the crime, and the district attorneys who prosecute the offenders. This is not their story. In Pro Wrestling Guerrilla’s (http://www.prowrestlingguerrilla.com) Dynamite Duumvirate Tag Team Title Tournament, the field is divided into two separate yet equally important groups; Commissioner of Wrestling Dino Winwood‘s selections of good sports and smart tacticians, and Commissioner of Food & Beverage Excalibur‘s picks of disrespectful hooligans and dirty fighters. This is their story.
Yesterday, it was announced that Chris Sabin & Alex Shelley, the Motor City Machine Guns would be unable to compete in the DDT4 tournament. As one could imagine, this threw a wrench into the plans of Commissioner Winwood, who was counting on “the Guns” to be one of the favorites to win the tournament. However, Dino is not a man to take things lying down, and instantly sprang into action to find suitable replacements. Looking to take advantage of the (let’s be real, International) success of Wrestling Society X, Dino Winwood has picked The Trailer Park Boyz, Josh Abercrombie and “Spyder” Nate Webb to fill the vacant spot in the DDT4 lineup. While Nate Webb has a fairly successful side business racing his pet ostrich Woscar, Abercrombie’s single-wide has seen better days, and the visit to the pay window as PWG World Tag Team Champion would prove a boon for young Josh. However, Abercrombie and Webb have no small task in front of them as they will take on Southern California originals Ricky Reyes and Rocky “Azucar” Romero, the Havana Pitbulls. After learning of Dino Winwood’s scramble to find a suitable replacement, Commissioner of Food & Beverage Excalibur felt like he was on top of the world. Temporarily, at least, since just a few hours later, he received an urgent text message, or “txtmsg” in the parlance of our times, from Jack Evans. While the content of the message was originally unclear (it read “got gf2 prg g2g2jpn sry”), after running it past the Navajo Windtalker Society of Northern Arizona, things became painfully obvious; Jack Evans is a passionate man, and cannot limit his passion to just one woman. Thus, when a female associate of Jack Evans (“Girlfriend 2”) made claims of pregnancy not only to Jack, but to his “main girl” (“Girlfriend 1”) as well, he found himself in quite a jam. So Jack Evans was forced to make a hasty retreat to Japan, into the open arms of Hiroko (“Girlfriend 13”) until this whole thing blows over. In simpler terms, due to commitments in Japan, Jack Evans will be unable to compete at DDT4.
On the verge of an epileptic fit, Excalibur remembered he had an ace up his sleeve; “The Man That Gravity Forgot” PAC. “Who would even be able to tell the difference? Just throw him in some baggy shorts and shove him through the curtain. They all look the same. The rubes will never know.” Blazing forward with little tact and large amounts of possible (Anglo) racism, Excalibur phoned Dino Winwood immediately and declared “Roderick Strong will now be teaming with PAC! Stick that in your pot and let it simmer!” But it would be Dino Winwood who would have the last laugh, because he knew who Roderick Strong & PAC would be facing in the first round, and it would wipe the smile right off of Food & Beverage’s Happy Meal.
Pro Wrestling Guerrilla’s Dynamite Duumvirate Tag Team Title Tournament takes place on May 19 & 20, 2007 at the Bernard Milken Center JCC in West Hills, CA. Night One of DDT4 will feature:
DDT4 First Round Match
Trailer Park Boyz (Josh Abercrombie & “Spyder” Nate Webb) vs. The Havana Pitbulls (Ricky Reyes & Rocky “Azucar” Romero)

DDT4 First Round Match
“The Man That Gravity Forgot” PAC & Roderick Strong vs. Super Dragon & Davey Richards
Also, non-tournament bouts include:
PWG World Championship Title Match
El Generico (c) vs. “Mr. Wrestling” Kevin Steen
– After Joey Ryan interfered in Kevin Steen’s Number One Contender Match with Ronin, Steen could take no more and laid out a challenge to Joey Ryan: A no disqualification match at All Star Weekend V. Even with the help of his best friend Karl “Machine Gun” Anderson, Joey Ryan found himself at the mercy of Kevin Steen. So impressed by the thorough destruction of his long time foe, Dino Winwood considered Kevin Steen to be the Number One Contender, and allowed him to challenge El Generico for the title at DDT4. These two men have met twice before in PWG, with each coming away with the victory. With the stakes to the rubber match as high as they can be, will “Mr. Wrestling” reclaim the belt, or will El Generico further enhance the legacy of his PWG title reign?
International Dream Match
“American Dragon” Bryan Danielson vs. CIMA
RBTT20007BOLAT – Hair vs. 2007BOLA
Ronin vs. Joey Ryan
– After being viciously attacked by Karl Anderson at All Star Weekend V, Ronin knew once and for all that he had to defeat Joey Ryan if he were ever to be taken seriously in PWG. Hoping to benefit from their former partnership, Ronin asked Food & Beverage Commissioner Excalibur if he could give him a match with Joey Ryan at DDT4. Joey initially refused the match, stating that Ronin is “nothing but a big red tomato can,” and that there was no incentive for (Joey) to face Ronin. Until, that is, Ronin said this:
“I’ll do anything to get my hands on him. I just want to beat the {expletive} out of his stupid {expletive} {expletive} head until he {expletive} blood for a week. I’ll put up my mask, my career, anything. Whatever it {expletive} takes.”
With six months of momentum behind it, Ronin’s Battle to the 2007 Battle of Los Angeles Tour has been one of the biggest anomalies in PWG history. Ronin’s series of victories over increasingly tougher opponents has bolstered his confidence and earned him a spot in the 2007 Battle of Los Angeles, and now that Joey Ryan still does not take him seriously, Ronin’s pride seems to be getting the better of him. Siezing on this, Joey Ryan accepted the match with Ronin, but Excalibur stated, in the interest of fairness, that Joey Ryan must put something of equal importance on the line if he wants Ronin’s first round spot in the 2007 Battle of Los Angeles. With Joey Ryan unwilling the wager the life of best friend Karl Anderson, he put up the next closest thing: his long and flowing hair. With what each man holds dearest to them on the line, this match will be the final chapter in either the RBTT2007BOLAT or Joey Ryan’s Tonsorial Testament.
