NWA Pro – BOASJ Update! First Four Names Announced!

Santa Monica, CA (April 24, 2006) – One week ago organizers announced that May 19th would be the date of the 2006 installment of The Best of American Super Jr. Tournament in El Monte, CA and since that announcement the telephones at the New Japan Dojo have not stopped ringing. On the other end of the land line was a “who’s – who” of pro wrestling stars from the last 20 years.The following are the first four of the eight that have been chosen to participate in this year’s tournament:

Scorpio Sky – Sky has held several regional championships in Southern California over the last three years. In addition to his West Coast efforts, Sky has also had opportunities to shine in Germany, England and elsewhere and was anxious at this chance to shine at an internationally recognized platform such as the BOASJ.

Jimmy Rave – Representing Ring of Honor (last years Official BOASJ Host), Rave is a seven year veteran who has wrestled all over the country for NWA™: Wildside, CZW and IWA Mid-South before making ROH his home. Rave has also wrestled on several occasions NWA™: Total Non-stop Action and is widely considered one of the most exciting and technically sound young wrestlers in the business.

Durango Kid – Since last 2005, Durango has shown a new lease on life and his career as he has become a true competitor in every sense of the word. He has battled long time friends and long time enemies at the Sunday New Japan Dojo Shows. Durango may be the oldest competitor in this year’s tournament and this is the first time a traditional Lucha fighter will participate.

Roderick Strong – Representing NWA™: Total Non-stop Action Wrestling comes the “Messiah of the Backbreaker”. Strong is not only one of the star’s of the hit Spike TV “Impact” show he is also one of the top contender’s for “The American Dragon” Bryan Danielson’s (2004 and 2005 BOASJ participant) ROH World Championship.

Next week tournament officials will release more information. General Admission tickets are on sale for $12.00 at the New Japan Dojo (3200 S. Olympic Blvd. Santa Monica, CA 310-264-9966) or at the El Monte Community Center (3130 Tyler Ave, El Monte, CA 626-580-2200). Proceeds from this event to benefit the City of El Monte Parks and Recreation Services Pee Wee League Athletic Programs.
