The show opens with announcer Handsome Johnny Starr calling to the ring the EWF’s newest diva, “Rick Richter”. For those of you not familiar with Richter, he is the manager of “Brawlin” Bo Cooper. At last month’s show, Bo lost a match that had stipulations that stated that if Bo were to lose the match, his manager must wear a dress for 60 days (which happens to cover the span of 2 EWF Covina shows). Out comes Richter to the ring to “Funky Girl” ala Angel. Richter is wearing a hilarious pink dress with a beauty queen sash and elicits a huge response from the capacity crowd. The crowd was so loud that promos were tough to hear. Main purpose was to show Richter’s new female side and the crowd popped huge for it.Young Lee vs. Alex Pinchek vs. Chavo Congo
Pinchek comes out last and does a promo in Russian. He then berates Young Lee and slaps him. Match gets underway with Young Lee getting a series of arm drags on both Pinchek and Congo. They soon overtake the green youngster and gain control with a series of clotheslines and a suplex. Pinchek wins by pin fall after a burning hammer and a top rope leg drop on Lee. This match was a very strong opening match. All three guys put in a great effort. Young is a little green but shows a lot of potential as does Congo. Pinchek is the star of not only this match, but the entire fed. SoCal promoters are really dropping the ball in not booking this guy. He has the whole package.
Mad Mac Macintosh/Sexy Starlit vs. Handsome Johnny Starr/Hurricane Havana in an Intergender Match
For a good portion of this match, the heel team of Macintosh and Starlit gave Havana a beatdown in the ring while keeping Starr on the apron just out of reach for the tag. Macintosh does a great drunken Scotsman gimmick and worked the crowd very well. Not much in the way of wrestling here, but the crowd was very into it as they are for most women’s matches in the EWF. Starr gets the pin on Macintosh after a top rope elbow drop. Next month will have a rematch. Stipulations for the match are that if Macintosh loses, he will leave EWF. Next show announced for August 27th.
Cyrus vs. Ragin Dawg
Cyrus attacks Dawg from behind to start the match. Dawg hits a brief flurry with 3 arm drags in a row. Cyrus quickly regains control and gives Dawg a couple of stiff clotheslines and elbow drops. Dawg comes back with three straight clotheslines with the last clothesline being an over the top rope version ala Mick Foley. Cyrus regains control and tosses Dawg into the stairs and post. Dawg’s now busted open. Dawg makes one last come back which is cut short when he crotches himself after slipping off the top rope. Cyrus capitalizes with a top rope Diamond Cutter for the pin. This was a very good match and was also very stiff at times. Cyrus is another one of EWF’s best workers. Dawg takes a lot of brutal shots in EWF from what I’ve seen. He seems to be the feds version of the WWE’s Spike Dudley with the look of the WWE’s Rhyno (but smaller).
”Brawlin” Bo Cooper with Rick Richter vs. Jason King
This was in my opinion the Match of the Night. This was a match up of the monster heel versus the hot cruiserweight star. This match started out with a boom and never let up. King started out the match by slapping Bo. King then gives Bo a rana followed by a leg whip. King then gives Bo a stiff kick and a few elbows. Bo reverses with a bodypress slam, a couple chops, and then a backdrop. Richter gets involved and chokes King. Bo stomps King’s groin area and tosses him onto the apron. King reverses with an arm drag on Bo from the ring apron. King climbs the ropes and is caught by Bo and slammed hard. Bo then stomps King’s neck. Richter chokes out King with a kendo stick. Bo hits a big flying clothesline for a big near fall. Bo tosses King outside ring. King hits a rana and then hits Richter with a kendo stick. King then hits a plancha onto both Bo and Richter. Back in the ring, King goes for moonsault and misses. Bo takes the chance to hit him with a Styles Clash for the win. This was a really good match and by far the best work I’ve ever seen from Bo Cooper, working really well with the cruiserweight. Bo did a great job of putting over the young cruiser, as he meshed so well with the smaller guy in this match. Bo’s work reminded me of how great Vic Grimes worked against much smaller workers. Great match by both workers. Best I’ve seen from Bo and a stellar performance from guy who has a great future ahead of him in Jason King. This was really good stuff from start to finish.
Vizzion/Ghetto Psycho/Cincinatti Red vs. Black Metal/Black Pearl/JC Castro
This match had so much action its hard to describe. Red and Castro start off first. Red takes control with an exploder suplex. Black Pearl checks in now. Pearl and Red go at it with a series of stiff chops and arm drags. Metal and Psycho check in now and we see a test of strength followed by dueling arm drags. Vizzion tags in and hits Metal with a leg whip and clotheslines him out of the ring. Pearl, Castro, and Metal triple team Vizzion in the corner. Castro hits Vizzion with some chops followed by a slam to the floor outside the ring. Vizzion is controlled for a few minutes more, always coming a little bit short of the hot tag. Finally, Vizzion hits a sit-out spinebuster. At this point of the match, all hell broke loose. The action was all over the ring and on the floor with all wrestlers involved. Finish saw Red hit Castro with a piledriver, then attempts a moonsault press but misses his target. Pearl hits Red with the chair to allow Castro to get the pin. Pearl also hits Vizzion with chair before leaving. Fun match that got really crazy and stiff at the end.
Los Chivos vs. Bino Gambino/Rudy Luna
Masks vs. Tag Team Titles Lumberjack Match
The Chivos are so over in the EWF, its crazy. When they came through the curtains the whole place erupted. Prematch Bo Cooper and Richter come to the ring and offer Los Chivos a chance to join up with them. Chivos decline. Bo and Richter then beat down Jesse Hernandez who has come to the ring. Luna and Gambino run in for the save. Match gets underway with Kayam against Bino. Kayam gets control after a nice flying head butt and a couple arm drags. Luna tags in and gains control. Luna begins tearing at Kayam’s mask. Enigma tags in and controls Luna. Bino then tags in and regains control for his team. Bino tags Luna back in who continues to tear at the mask of Kayam. Bino tags back in and ends up in the Chivos corner. The Chivos toss Bino into the lumberjacks. At this point, Jesse and Vizzion give Bino a series of chops on the floor. Kayam hits Luna with a senton. Chivos are in complete control of Luna. Bino gets tossed out of the ring where the lumberjacks proceed to beat him down some more. At this point in the match, an all out brawl took place between the lumberjacks around the ring. Back in the ring, Chivos win with a spike piledriver on Bino. This was a crazy brawl that went everywhere and involved the entire EWF roster. This was a very fun way to end the show. The crowd liked this match best from what I could tell. Tons of crowd heat and interaction.
Another fun show from EWF and company. The crowd was the largest EWF crowd I’ve ever seen. The crowd managed to stay hot the entire time as well. I don’t think a person in the place went home without the feeling that they had gotten their money’s worth.
