Saturday April 10th marks the reason why Mat Wars was created: The opportunity for the West Coast’s finest wrestlers to compete. It also marks the professional debuts of 4 wrestlers. UPW has been the place where such stars as John Cena, Victoria, Nathan Jones and many others have made their wrestling debuts. On April 10th, we will continue to add to this list with 4 wrestlers that have worked, having shown extreme dedication to this business at Ultimate University. These 4 wrestlers are Jason Creed, Kevin Arnold, and the newest tag team to hit the scene, The Good Guys. We ask all of our UPW and Mat Wars fans to come show your support to these wrestlers as they certainly have earned it. In fact, these Mat Wars shows have gotten such good recognition that the word has spread all the way to Arizona as The Navajo Warrior will make his Mat Wars debut as well. So please join us on April 10th as Mat Mars presents AWAKE!!
No Time Limit! Title -vs- Title!
Frankie Kazarian (UPW Lightweight Champion) -vs- Tony Stradlin (UPW Mat Wars Champion)
On March 13th, these two competitors collided for the first time in history. Each man was looking to become the first ever wrestler to hold both the UPW Lightweight title and the UPW Mat Wars title. Although it looked like Frankie had it with in his reach after two consecutive “Wave of the Futures” to Stradlin, the 20 minute time limit expired and no winner was declared. On April 10th, these two will finish what they started as there will be No Time Limit! When Frankie was asked about his chances this time around, he stated that “I had Stradlin beat the first time, and this time around he won’t be saved by the bell, and I will walk out a double champion”. Stradlin, however, thinks that this will be his opportunity to shine, saying “Frankie got lucky last time, and I will prove that I am the best in the west, now get that microphone out of my face”. Talk about being cranky. If this match is anything like last time, it should definitely not be missed!
Antonio Mestre -vs- Lionheart
Here are two up and comers that really had a bright future as a tag team here in UPW. Although they came up short against PWI two months ago, they gave it their all and made UPW proud. Last month Lionheart wanted to apologize to Antonio Mestre for the loss and had hoped that they could work past their early defeat. Antonio had other plans and blind-sided Lionheart with a devastating kick from behind. When Antonio walked back through the curtains he was given stares by everyone, yet he didn’t seem to care. We tried to follow up on this story however every time we approached Mestre he refused to comment, only saying that “Lionheart deserved it”. This will not be just another wrestling match, it will be a fight. It will be a fight for Lionheart to gain back the respect that Antonio Mestre took from him. It will be a fight for Lionheart to gain back the respect in him he thinks the fans have lost. Well Lionheart, we all have respect for you, and if you ask this reporters opinion, I hope Lionheart gets it all back. However, it is going to be harder than it looks, because Mestre is dead on accurate with his feet and is one of the toughest competitors in California, period!
Desire -vs- Valentina
This is a match that has now been two months in waiting. Last month Desire was unable to wrestle due to an injury the week before. When we asked her how she is feeling she said “I’m ready, I’ve been training hard and there is nothing that will keep me from getting my hands on Valentina”. When Valentina heard what was said she said “Desire is all talk! She was too afraid to face me last time and she won’t have the guts to get in the ring with me”. Well we’ll just have to wait and see how this one unfolds. Be there on April 10th to see what happens!
Lil’ Nate -vs- Jason Creed
This match marks the Mat Wars debut of Jason Creed. Creed is an athlete with incredible ability, extreme determination, and a very bright future in this business. He’s looking to make a huge impact in his first UPW match, however it will be easier said than done as he will go up against someone who is, in this reporters opinion, “The next sure thing in this business”: Lil Nate. Not only is Nate one of the biggest crowd favorites in UPW and Mat Wars history, but he also knows his way around a wrestling ring. This will be an uphill battle for Jason Creed, but from what I have seen of him, he has what it takes to do it!
Plus, the UPW debut of The Human Tornado, The Good Guys,
and many more matches featuring Ma’koa, The Ballard Brothers,
Tommy Wilson, Sabbath, Shawn Riddik and more.
