Jay Cal’s View #166

“Empty your mind. Be formless, shapeless, like water. Now you put water into a cup, it becomes the cup. You put it in a bottle, it becomes the bottle. You put it in a teapot, it becomes the teapot. Now water can flow or it can crash. Be water my friend.” –Bruce Lee

CWFH Show Reviews…
As Editor in Chief of SoCalUNCENSORED I have the burden of defining what is or is not appropriate for this site. Before I go any further, it was my decision to discontinue the reviews, mine alone. It was my decision to remove them from the site. Steve and I spoke a few times through email about the reviews. Ultimately the personal attacks became the deciding factor. Tom Walters might have been the most brutal reviewer on the site, but nothing he wrote was personal. These reviews although entertaining for some, are not what I was hoping for when Andrew volunteered to review CWFH Television. The personal attacks are what take away from the true critique that I was initially hoping for. In retrospect, these articles should have never been published. However in the spirit of being Uncensored, they will remain on the site.

I like Andrew. That’s why he’s still going to be writing for the site. I think Andrew’s Interview with Ray Rosas was incredible. I also think Andrew’s piece on Reseda Wrestling was a terrific read. I’m looking forward to more additional MMA coverage that Andrew is providing as well as his weekly Real Talk articles. And as far as I’m concerned there is no issue between Andrew and I.

The site will continue to move forward. We will continue to cover all of Southern California Wrestling. We will still; review the good and bad, promote what’s coming up, wax poetic about the history of the scene, add members into our Hall of Fame, and award the best in the industry today. you all check out. Maybe in a future Jay Cal’s View, I’ll discuss this more. But for now, I am finished with this.

Lucha Underground to Netflix
Lucha Underground was already able to monetize it’s previous episodes and current season of its wildly popular El Rey Original Program by distributed digitally to iTunes. You can currently own the entire first season for the low low price of $44.99. Or the Second season for $39.99. Although tempting, if Lucha Underground ends up on the streaming service Netflix, we can be seeing an incredibly different avenue for professional wrestling. Netflix is the most popular streaming service and for good reason. Nearly unlimited content for $8 a month. Adding Lucha Underground may not impact the over all business model of streaming content, but I know for sure that those of us who don’t currently subscribe to pay television and don’t have El Rey, will jump at the opportunity to binge through the first season.

On a side note, Lucha Underground will be filming March 19th, 20th, 26th, & 27th this month. And will be at SXSW next week.

Pro Wrestling Guerrilla
Congrats to Zach Sabre Jr. who many consider the best wrestler on the planet, who won the PWG World Heavyweight Champion at All Star Weekend. He becomes just the 18th man to hold the title since its inception in 2003. Both nights of All Star Weekend 12 are up for pre-order at www.prowresltingguerrilla.com. In addition, PWG’s Tribute to Lemmy is now shipping.

Championship Wrestling From Hollywood
One of my sources within CWFH said that a big show is coming to the Oceanview Pavilion the first taping in April. Until then they will be having their next taping this weekend. ‘SuperTsar’ Sasha Darevko challenges “Pretty” Peter Avalon for the Hollywood Heritage Championship THIS SUNDAY at Oceanview Pavilion’s Performing Arts Theatre by the Beach! Also expected in action United Television Champion “Main Event” James Morgan with Stu Stone, United Tag Team Champions Cold Cold War, VERMIN, JR Kratos, Tyler Bateman, Pac3, and more.

Join Championship Wrestling From Hollywood on Sunday March 13th at the Oceanview Pavilion in Pt. Hueneme for an afternoon of action-packed professional wrestling! Admission to the event is FREE! This event will be taped for CWFH’s television show, which airs Saturday’s at 4PM on KDOC-TV Los Angeles / KOFY San Francisco and 9PM PST/12AM EST across the country on Youtoo America!

Wildkat
Lastly I’d like to give props to Raze as she returns to Wildkat this weekend in New Orleans Louisiana. She is joined by fellow SoCal veteran Brain Kendrick. Good luck to both of them.
