Will 2014 be “INSANE”?

Almost 9 years ago, Insane Wrestling League made its debut as a backyard federation but over the years they’ve evolved by IWL Logosaying goodbye to backyard, hello to VFW’s, Legion Halls & become one of the top promotions in So Cal & ultimately becoming a runner up to promotion of the year for a few years.

Even though 2013 was a slow year for IWL, they did accomplish 3 successful shows (Won’t Back Down, Too Insane for TV & New Era 8) as well as had guest stars make an appearance with Former WWE star John Morrison & Former GLOW Girl Little Egypt. But the biggest accomplishments they received were a deal with ROKU (which allows anyone with a ROKU to watch classic matches from the IWL archives) & a joint partnership with Santino Brothers over the summer which allowed the creation of IWL’s Unhinged show featuring the stars of IWL & Santino Bros on ROKU. Even though the series only lasted the summer, it gave more exposure to the talent on a different scale.

Now as we’re in the year of 2014, what does this mean for Insane Wrestling League? New Era 8 in September 2013 was the last time we’ve heard from IWL & they’ve been on hiatus ever since but after talking with IWL Promoter Vic Luna, he assured me that IWL will be back in 2014 so the question now is when will the 1st show of the new year take place & who will be on the card?

At NE8,  we saw Monster Mafia (Ethan Page & Josh Alexander) from Canada become the New Tag Team Champs, Joey Ryan became the New Anarchy Champion & Ray Rosas become the New IWL Champion which begs the question is who will receive the 1st title shots at them? Will the former champions like The Young Bucks, Eric Cross & Johnny Savoi invoke their rematch clause? Will we see other IWL stars like Eric Watts, Joseph Knox, B-Boy, Justin Ryke, The American Oni, Terex, Willie Mack & Famous B get their chance at some gold? Or maybe we’ll see stars from other promotions make their way to IWL & become a contender or just maybe we’ll see a friendly cross promotion event in 2014 (IWL vs AOW, IWL vs EWF, IWL vs AWS to name a few)? The list of possibilities are countless but we’ll have to wait & see for now.
