A Recap of AWS Turkey Sandwich 2, Nov. 30th

Shot of the Night 11-30-13 - AWS

This CHAOS COLUMN is a recap of AWS Promotions “Turkey Sandwich 2” November 30th 2013 at American Legion Post #335, South Gate.  The show started off slow, but picked up late to the delight of another capacity crowd.

1 – Terex p. Biggie Biggz with the Moonsault in an excellent display of strength in a battle between the two big men.

2 – El Chupacabra (w/ Sage Sinn) p. El Ridiculoso to WIN the AWS Lightweight Title.  Sage was able to tip the scales in Chupacabra’s favor late in the see-saw battle, although Chupacabra had to work just a bit more in the end, hitting a Canadian Destroyer for the title-clinching pin.

* – Mondo Vega comes out with Hudson Envy next, explaining–in his own words–about an emergency that prevented Brittany Wonder from making it to the show.  That was when the substituting Kitana Vera came out.

3 – Hudson Envy made Kitana Vera tapout to the LeBell Lock submission, countering the “Glam Slam” attempt.

4 – Ricky Mandel (w/ Goldigger) p. Lil Cholo with a Crucifix Rollup, taking advantage of Goldigger’s distraction.  For some reason, Ricky went to the back, forgetting about Goldigger.  That left her open to take not one, but two Sidewinder/Gunslinger Backbreakers to Cholo’s right leg.  Ouch!

5 – Lucha Libre Rules Trios Match.  SoCal Crazy & Los Luchas (Phoenix Star & Zokre) def. The L.A. F’ers (Piloto Suicida, Shamu Jr., & Ultimo Shamu).  What they lacked in comedy, they made up for it in some very serious lucha libre.  SoCal Crazy got Piloto Suicida to tapout to the LeBell Lock, while Los Luchas rolled up & pinned Shamu Jr. & Ultimo Shamu to seal the deal.

6 – Willie Mack p. Tyler Bateman with the Chocolate Thunder Driver in a great see-saw match.

* Chris Kadillak hits the ring before the next match, complaining about not getting his shot at the Lightweight title, especially when El Chupacabra & Sage Sinn came out.  Sage Sinn gave Chris a good slap, then Kadillak & Chupacabra brawled, and had to be separated by security.  Those two will go at it on the 12/28 show.

7 – Candice LeRae p. Veda Scott with what kinda looked like an Side Effect or Reverse Mustache Ride from the middle ropes.  Great showing by Candice, who was facing her 4th “2013 PWI Female 50 Listee” if you count her jobbing match with Gail Kim recently on Impact Wrestling.  That should give her confidence going into her title shot with Christina Von Eerie next month.

SM – Los Bandidos (Rico Dynamite & Tito Escondido) def. PPRay (Peter Avalon & Ray Rosas) & The Suburban Commandos (T-Rent & D-Unit) to WIN the AWS Tag Team Titles.  Great exchange by the three tag teams in the one-fall triple threat match, but it was Tito & Rico who found the initiative late, taking advantage of the Suburban Commandos hitting their team finisher on PPA, then took them out to get the title-clinching pin.  “We took over Hollywood (CWFH),” said Rico after the bell, “and now we’re taking over the AWS!”

M – B-Boy p. Ryan Taylor with the Cravat from the middle ropes, into a Shining Wizard for a successful defense of the AWS Heavyweight title.  Mondo Vega thought he did Ryan Taylor a favor by distracting Referee Rick Knox with a chair, then did a title-belt shot on B-Boy, but only got a 2-count.  B-Boy showed great awareness, striking down Mondo after he hit the Cravat, before hitting his finisher for the pin.

A great show overall to conclude November.  I’ll give my vote for MOTN to the Lucha Libre match, followed by the tag team title match, then the B-Boy/Ryan Taylor match.
