A Recap of AWS: Halloween Slaughterhouse Oct. 13th 2013

Shot of The Night - AWS - 10-13-13

This CHAOS COLUMN is a recap of Alternative Wrestling Show’s  show October 13th 2013 “Halloween Slaughterhouse”, American Legion Post #355, South Gate.  A near-capacity crowd filled the hall to see the big steel cage match, the return of Sabu, and the ladies in action that featured 3 women from last month’s women’s tournament, plus the return of MsChif & Daffney.

1 – Mikey O’Shea p. Che Cabrera, catching him off a top-rope move, then rolled it into the Gunslinger.

2 – El Ridiculoso successfully defended the AWS Lightweight title, pinning Leo Blaze with the STO/Implant DDT in a very good match.

3 – Papadon, Tyler Bateman, & Ricky Mandel (w/ Goldigger) def. Willie Mack, Ryan Taylor, & SoCal Crazy. Great 6-man tag team action ended with Papadon pushing Willie Mack off the top rope to prevent an apparent Frog Splash attempt. Tyler Bateman rolled up Willie for the pin.

* PPRay (Peter Avalon & Ray Rosas) sent word to the crowd that their scheduled title match opponent, the L.A. F’ers (Piloto Suicida & Shamu Jr.) couldn’t make it. Issuing another open challenge for the titles, Ridiculously Bigg (El Ridiculoso & Biggie Biggz) answered it.

4 – Joey Ryan p. Hector Canales with the Superkick. Hector was doing his best impression of the late Michael Jackson, complete with the Moonwalk.

5 – MsChif & “Super Ultra Girl” Brittany Wonder (w/ Daffney) def. Hudson Envy & Kurai Hime (w/ Mondo Vega). This match had MsChif tapping into her inner “Freddy Krueger”, and a chain Sleeper Hold involving all four women. Great ladies match ended with Daffney spitting a poison mist into the face of Kurai Hime, making MsChif fall on her for the pin.

6 – PPRay successfully defended the AWS Tag Team titles, beating Ridiculously Bigg when Peter Avalon p. El Ridiculoso with their team finisher off a catch from a Sunset Flip attempt to end a match that was a great blend of comedy & serious wrestling.

SM – Hardcore match. Sabu p. Lil Cholo with the signature chair-assisted leg drop from the top rope, onto a table. 1 table, 2 chairs, and a bag full of thumbtacks were used in this match.

A raffle drawing was held while the steel cage was set up, where people won autographed DVD’s, posters, and a steel chair used in the Candice LeRae/Hudson Envy hardcore match from Last August. Amazingly, there was just enough ceiling space to set it up over the SCP ring.

M – Title vs. Career “Halloween Slaughterhouse” Steel Cage Match (pinfall or submission in the cage, no cage escape victory), where Scorpio Sky had the title on the line, and B-Boy had his wrestling career on the line. A handful of chairs and other weapons were used. Scorpio Sky was unable to put B-Boy away with either the Ace of Spades, or the Big Fat Kill. With the crowd really into it late, B-Boy hit a 2nd Spike Tombstone Driver onto a stack of steel chairs, scoring the pin to win the title, and continue his career.

Sabu stayed for photo ops inside the steel cage after the show ended, in additional to the usual afterparty at the bar inside the legion hall. The steel cage match is my obvious choice for match of the night, followed by the Sabu/Cholo match, then the ladies match. Their next show on 11/30 already has one notable lady coming to So Cal, in the form of Veda Scott.
