Jay Cal’s View #86

Thanks for taking a look at the View from Jay Cal this week. This week, I share my thoughts on the controversy in Iowa this weekend, I know this isn’t IowaUNCENSORED, but it involved a few names familiar with SoCal including Ryan Kidd (Happy Birthday Kidd!) There is a new podcast in town, plus info on my podcast and this week’s schedule.  One last thing, anyone else looking forward to TNA tonight?

Clip of the Week
This Clip of the Week although based in of all places Iowa is centered upon Ryan Kidd.  The actions of Tony Kozina and his running mates Davey Richards and Kyle O’Riley have caused quite an uproar on twitter.  At Magnum Pro (which has been tied to some SoCal Promotions in the past).  Kidd’s initial training was completed with New Wave Pro Wrestling and continued with SoCal Pro.  Not only did his trainers take offense to the way he was treated by Kozina, but “Scrap Iron” Adam Pearce even spoke out on twitter and facebook acknowledging that he thought it was “reprehensible; totally classless.”  Others feel that it was a good old fashioned stretching and would teach the kid respect.  Kozina mentioned in the clip he felt disrespected by Kidd who had a promo on youtube prior to their match (which can be seen here.)  Kidd taking the high road has yet to publicly address Kozina or the rest of Team Ambition.  I’ve never trained to be a pro wrestler, but I’ve always heard about protecting your opponent.  Clearly Kozina wasn’t protecting his opponent.  I’m not sure what message Kozina was trying to send him.  Kozina and Company talk about trying to save the business and shoot on anything they feel disrespects it.  Although I’ve yet to see Kozina take advantage of someone in the ring like he did with Kidd, I’ve read his commentary, even had him on my podcast in the past… I don’t see how this is saving anything.  Before I hit publish, just read Scorpio Sky’s take on the situation, check that out as well.  @ScorpioSky

talkNWA
This week’s edition of talkNWA features NWA Women’s World Champion Tasha Simone. Tasha has some very controversial opinions.  The outspoken champion was trained by “Gentleman” Chris Adams and has hand in training several wrestlers herself.  We’ll talk to Tasha about her career, the level of competition in women wrestling, and of course taking your calls at (646) 478-3019.

New SoCal Podcast
The inaugural episode of “Millennium Pro Wrestling Radio” ft. host Jay Stone and guest 50% owner of MPW and former MPW Maximum Champion, “Lethal” Logan X. They discussed Logan’s beginning in the wrestling business, his time at UPW, the “Lethal Logan X” character, his feuds in MPW, and took a few calls. We also discussed the state of MPW and MPW BumpU.

TNA IMPACT
Last week, Joey punched out Al Snow.  Some call it a sucker punch… I just call it a punch.  I don’t know how much longer they plan on running with this, but my excitement of tuning into TNA weekly hasn’t been this high in a while.  In fact I haven’t felt this way about BIG TIME WRESTLING since the Monday Night Wars.  Kudos to TNA for trying something different.  Be it a return of Lars Only, Mason Andrews, or even Joey Ryan… I’m looking forward to it.  But what if it was a new talent from SoCal on TNA tonight… Aces and Eights, X-Division Challenge, Gut Check… I guess we’ll be watching tonight.
