Jay Cal’s View #81

Another interesting week in SoCal.  This Clip of the Week is a throwback to the original Ryback Challenge, The Underground premiered last week, new trainers at Bump University,  tonight is the Santino Bro’s Seminar, Jerry Lynn will be our guest on talkNWA, and this week’s line up.Clip of the Week
I have admitted before that I do not watch much if any of WWE. I have however, been wised up to this fella Ryback, who I remember as Skip Sheffield “Yup Yup Yup, What it Do?” from NXT, the same class that introduced the WWE to Daniel Bryan. Apparently Ryback is so bad that he’s just squashing guys local indy guys in 2 on 1 matches. SoCal’s own Anchors Away have been soliciting their services to face off against Ryback. If you want to help support them, tweet it or share it on facebook, with a Hashtag #AnchorsAwayvsRyback. The original unstoppable monster who would take 2 guys at once in the WWE was The 8th Wonder of the World “Andre the Giant.” Andre faces off against two SoCal Originals Black Gordman & the Great Goliath in a handicap match from 1974.

The Underground
Already receiving mixed reviews is the UNDERGROUND, which is being described as being in the same universe as the Wrestling Revolution Project, the acclaimed wrestling project from Jeff Katz. I thought the episode was okay. I agree that the commentary wasn’t a selling point, but you can’t have Todd Kennelly call everything. All kidding aside, the action delivered and you’ll see a cameo from SoCal Pro’s Nick Lovin as KING. I think there is potential with this project and ultimately I think more highly produced wrestling is better than some of the near backyard stuff that seems to be popping up in SoCal.

Talk NWA
This weeks TalkNWA will be the New F’n Show Jerry Lynn.  Jerry stated he is heading into retirement at the end of 2012.  Jerry has held countless titles but some of the most notable have been the TNA X-Division, NWA Tag Team, WWE Light Heavyweight, the Ring of Honor World Championship, and the ECW World Heavyweight Championship.  Lynn’s work ethic and ability speaks volumes about the caliber athlete he is.  We’ll be talking to Mr. JL about his time working with so many National Promotions, his thoughts on the current direction of wrestling, and his reign as  World Champion of ROH and ECW.  We’ll also be asking Lynn about his up-coming match with Damien Wayne who is currently the NWA DAWG Heavyweight Champion.

BUMP U
Bump U is the official training school for MPW, accepting students for wrestling, refereeing, and managing.  Based in the San Fernando Valley, BumpUniversity has recently added some new names to the staff; Seth Skyfire and J.J. $teele.  Seth was a trainer at Ohio Valley Wrestling for several years and has wrestled a lot of big names in the business.  The duo join Logan Xavier instructing on Monday and Wednesday Nights, 7-10PM.  Bump University is Located at 9180 Kelvin Ave, Chatsworth CA 91311
