EWF’s “Wrestling for Austism” Recap Apr. 13th

WTF, GATSON !?!?

BTWNCHAOSNORDER’S gives a recap of  Empire Wrestling Federation “Wrestling for Autism” show at the Knights of Columbus Hall, Covina, CA on April 13th 2012.  $435 was raised for the Autism in Long Beach charity group, which included a $250 donation from the Knights of Columbus Covina chapter, all to help the families of those who are suffering from Autism in the Long Beach, CA community. As advertised, regional wrestling legend Ric Drasin & GLOW star “Sunny The California Girl” made their appearance. Despite the latest storm that dumped plenty of rain over So Cal this day, a good crowd was present at this show.

Before the matches got underway, NWA International TV Champion Scorpio Sky (w/ “The Experience” manager Christian Cole) cut an in-ring promo, claiming that the current EWF roster were nothing but pretenders. That drew out EWF Heavyweight Champion Johnny Starr, who countered it with his own promo, and a brief brawl broke out.

1 – “Ironman” Mike Maze p. Stryder w/ the Top Rope Elbow Drop.

2 – The latest chapter in the ongoing rivalry between “Mega-Queen” Ashley Hollywood & Nikki Hollywood. Nikki won this time, countering a rollup attempt by Ashley to hit a Facebuster for the pin. Slowly but surely, the two ladies are improving in the ring.

* Sugar Sweet v. “Project 56” Joshua Dunbar was next, but if anyone saw what happened at the 3/4/12 show, Joshua Dunbar turned down Christian Cole’s offer to “join ‘The Experience'”. Well, payback certainly came, as Christian Cole revealed his “newest addition to ‘The Experience'”…in Killa Gorilla, who unloaded on Joshua Dunbar. Well, EWF Deputy Commissioner Marty Elias wasn’t going to let Sugar Sweet have an easy night, and brought out a replacement.

3 – Red Thunder p. Sugar Sweet w/ a Reversal Crucifix, countering the showboating cover.

4 – “Mega-King” Tommy Wilson (w/ his “Mega-Queen”) successfully defended the EWF American Championship, pinning Vintage Dragon w/ the “Mega-Kick”. Mike Maze came out and confronted Tommy Wilson to promote their rematch that following night. A brawl ensued, and some of the guys from the back came out to break things up en route to intermission.

SM – After intermission, The A-List (Jeremy Jaeger & Roger Ruiz, w/ Liger Rivera) successfully defended the EWF Tag Team Championship, def. Hollywood Underground (Ein Idol & Dave The Bruiser, w/ Crystal Michelle) when Roger Ruiz p. Ein Idol w/ his Ace Crusher, off of Jeremy Jaeger’s Gutbuster. The A-List certainly had some difficulty dealing w/ Dave The Bruiser & his “big belly of steel”, but managed to chop him down some.

M – Match between EWF Heavyweight Champion “Handsome” Johnny Starr & the NWA International TV Champion Scorpio Sky (w/ Christian Cole) ended in a No-Contest, when a masked man, later revealed to be Brandon Gatson, ran in and attacked both men. That pretty much cleared out the entire backstage area, and Marty Elias set up the main event of the 5/4 EWF 16th Anniversary Show, when Johnny Starr & Brandon Gatson face off for the EWF Heavyweight title, in a “People’s Choice” match, in which the fans in attendance will vote on the match type. Should be a good alternative to TNA House Show at the Citizen’s Business Bank Arena in Ontario, in which I will be at that night.
