Jay Cal’s View #37

A lot of wrestling in SoCal this weekend that kicks off tonight with Lucha Va Voom’s 9th Anniversary.  Hard to believe that the “Sexo y Violencia” has been around that long.  If you are going, make sure you keep your eyes open for El Bombero, El Presidente, Joey “Magnum” Ryan, along with all the Lucha Action.  I also wanted to say congrats to all the SoCal Talent who got tryouts with the WWE this past weekend, good luck to all of you.    SoCal Pro Action figures are going fast, updates to the Video Section, my thoughts on NWA Hollywood’s TV Taping, SCU is going Social plus this week’s up coming schedule.  **Corrections and retractions**

SoCalPro Wrestling Figures
Only 40 sets of the SoCal Pro Wrestling Series 1 ACTION FIGURES Remain! Purchase yours TODAY! www.socalprowrestling.com.  I purchased my set right away.  I think it was pretty cool for Jeff Dino to come up with such an interesting piece of Merchandise to help promote his brand.

Video Section on SoCalUNCENSORED
Last night I watched the Evan Bourne (Matt Sydal) vs. Scorpio Sky match from WSX in 2007, it was a lot of fun. We’ve added the first four episodes of WSX from MTV, the NWA Showcase that originally aired on Colours TV and the weekly updates of NWA Championship Wrestling From Hollywood on KDOC-TV.

SoCal is going  Social
It wasn’t long ago we created a twitter account, to make it easier to stay up to date with SoCalUNCENSORED, @SoCalUNCENSORED.  Thanks to all of you for the follows.  Today we launched our Official Facebook Page.  We hope you’ll like us and Suggest us to your friends.

Thoughts on NWA Hollywood

As previously reported the NWA Championship Wrestling from Hollywood Television Taping was going to look very different.  There was the aforementioned divorce of Joey Ryan and NWA Hollywood.

There were also about half a dozen NWA Hollywood Regulars who wouldn’t be in attendance.  The event had a fairly decent turnout, which probably had more to due with SummerSlam and the early start time then a change in the booking committee.  A lot of new comers to the show, EWF’s Strider worked a non-taped match, he resembled a member of the Kiss Army.  From Mach-1 The Chef debuted in Hollywood, he resembled Stevie Ray of Harlem Heat fame, but in an American Gladiator gear and an apron.  Also El Hijo De LA Park made his debut.  I always have a great time at these shows and this one was no different.  Stu Stone continues to generate a lot of heat, he was probably always more suited to be a manager than an announcer.  It seems like even without some of the more familiar faces at the show, it still was very entertaining.  I think my one complaint about the show was the lack of the NWA Hollywood International TV Title.  I know Scorpio was at the WWE event, but they could have done a title switch at Mach-1 or SoCal Pro (which ran the Friday and Saturday respectively) and aired it on the TV show.  They spent months of TV building up this championship and now it won’t be seen for another four weeks of television.  To me that is a miss.  But outside of that the show seemed very good as the talents are all vying for the opportunity to be mentored by Percy Pringle and join the Pringle Dynasty.  If you’d like to see some shots of the show please check out my gallery

Corrections and Retractions
I originally left out PWG.  Obviously this is a huge oversight.  Pro Wrestling Guerrilla is having their Battle of Los Angeles event, one of the premiere wrestling events in Southern California.  I hope everyone goes out to this event.
