Jay Cal’s View #5

They say three is a magic number, but I think five might just be the magic number for this week. This is Jay Cal’s View #5. Also SoCal has a rare 5 Nights of Wrestling lined up. Lucha Va Voom, NWA Pro/Mach-1, NWA Pro/SoCal Pro, Battleground Pro, and NWA Pro/EWF.

In this weeks View, I’ll be talking about one of SoCal’s finest who’s on a hot streak, Saying Goodbye to Alternative Wrestling Show and I’ll give you the upcoming events and results of the week
Is there any wrestler in SoCal right now who is hotter than Scorpio Sky?  Aside from holding the EWA Championship, which he won in a Empire Wrestling Federation Ring, he’s also defeated Joey Ryan and Johnny Goodtime to win the opportunity to face Former WWE Star Shelton Benjamin at Centre City Slam for Mach-1 event in San Diego, July 24th.  And last Saturday Night, not only did he defeat former AWS/SoCal Pro Heavyweight Champion SoCal Crazy, but he also outlasted 158 other competitors to be the first man to win a 3 Ring 159 Battle Royal.  You can see Scorpio Sky next taking on Tommy Wilson June 25th Friday Night for the NWA/SoCal Pro Wrestling Showcase. And just announced last night, Sunday June 27th, Sky gets a shot at the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship at the NWA Pro/EWF. Depending on the results of the weekend, Sky could be facing Joey Ryan, Sean Waltman, or reigning champion, Adam Pearce.

“I have been thinking about shutting down for the past few years … I didn’t because it was a up and down few years where business was good, then down … then good again. I stayed open because we had some great up and coming students and another that I brought down from up north. I wanted to give talent like (AWS Lightweight Champion) Peter Avalon, Buggy, Sindarin, Jumpin Jalen Wu, Riki de la Paz, and Christina Von Eerie a chance to shine. — Bart Kapitzke

This excerpt is from Michael Simmons’ article on the closing of the Alternative Wrestling Show. All of the AWS Titles have become officially retired.
