PWG’s ASW V & DDT4 (Tag Tournament) Updates

By Silverback, PWG Staff Writer

Carmel, CA – With Pro Wrestling Guerrilla’s (http://www.prowrestlingguerrilla.com) All Star Weekend V just over 48 hours away, Commissioner of Wrestling Dino Winwood is hard at work making sure that this weekend will be one of the biggest and best in PWG history. All of the hard work seems to be paying off, as Commissioner Winwood secured the services of Japanese king of comedy Kikutaro and the WWE-bound “Classic” Colt Cabana who will be facing one another in singles competition on Saturday, April 7 for Night One of All Star Weekend V. These two leviathans of levity have had in-ring encounters before, but the stakes have never been so high. Colt Cabana was recently signed by the WWE, and is intent on making a favorable impression with his future employer by crushing a Japanese man who stands half of Cabana’s size. Kikutaro, on the other hand, has a lucrative sponsorship with Kyoto Prefectural Mackarel Processing Plant hanging in the balance, and a decisive victory over a foreign power would cement that deal. However, the giants of guffaws will have on more chance to keep their pride intact, and another opportunity to impress region specific seafood concerns when on Sunday, April 8, Night Two of All Star Weekend V, Kikutaro teams up with Disco Machine to take on Colt Cabana and Top Gun Talwar, in what will be Cabana’s farewell match for PWG. “Classic” Colt Cabana has been a member of the PWG roster from very nearly the start, and he would like nothing more to leave PWG with his head held high and his hand raised in victory. However Kikutaro has promised Disco Machine all the canned mackerel he can eat if their team is victorious, and anyone that has visited Disco Machine’s MySpace can tell you about his insatiable appetite for cylindrically shaped fish! Find out whose team will reign supreme, and so much more this weekend at PWG’s All Star Weekend V!

If you have not purchased tickets for PWG’s All Star Weekend V yet, you have until 11:59PM tomorrow (Friday, April 6) to do so. Front Row tickets for Night Two are completely sold out, and only 10 Front Row Tickets remain for Night One, with General Admission for both nights still available! Plus whether you pre-ordered Front Row or General Admission tickets, you will be admitted into the building prior to Walk Up customers, allowing you first pick of your seats.

If you have already pre-ordered your All Star Weekend V tickets (either in person at “70 | 30” or online), there will be a separate Pre-Order Admission line which will handle both your admission to the building and ticket order pick up. Then starting at 7:15PM, pre-order customers (both Front Row & General Admission) will be admitted to the building first, with Walk Up customers admitted after. Don’t wait until the day of the show! With a little over 24 hours to go, there’s still time to pre-order your tickets online, but you better be fast!

And if you’re coming from a long way off, or just from down the street, and would like the opportunity to commemorate your experience at PWG’s All Star Weekend V, we will have event T-Shirts available for only $20. The T-Shirts are available in sizes Small, Medium, Large, Xtra Large, and 2XL. Any remaining quantity of T-Shirts will be made available for purchase through http://www.prowrestlingguerrilla.com.

PWG’s DDT4 (Tag Tournament) Update (04/05)
By Silverback, PWG Staff Writer

Carmel, CA – With Pro Wrestling Guerrilla (http://www.prowrestlingguerrilla.com) Commissioner Dino Winwood busy putting the last minute touches on PWG’s All Star Weekend V, coming up this weekend, April 7 & 8 at the Van Nuys Armory, PWG Commissioner of Food & Beverage Excalibur is using Dino’s distraction as an opportunity to seize control of the PWG World Tag Team Title Tournament. Scheduled for Saturday, May 19 and Sunday, May 20, the tournament has thus far gone without a proper title. Until now, that is. Hoping to convey the importance of the tournament through a simple wrestling-related acronym, Excalibur has dubbed the tournament “DDT4,” or Dynamite Duumvirate Tag Team Title Tournament. This name once again proves that Excalibur believes himself to be more clever than he really is. However, if that were the only news about the tournament, I could go home early today, but that is not the case because the first two tournament match-ups were announced earlier today.

First, the teams scheduled to compete in the tournament are:

— The Briscoe Brothers (Jay & Mark Briscoe)
— The King of Wrestling (“Double C” Claudio Castagnoli & Chris Hero)
Naruki Doi & Masato Yoshino
Jack Evans & Roderick Strong
— The Havana Pitbulls (Ricky Reyes & Rocky “Azucar” Romero)
— Motor City Machine Guns (Chris Sabin & Alex Shelley)
Davey Richards & ???
— Arrogance (“Photogenic” Chris Bosh & “The Professional” Scott Lost)

On Night One of DDT4, Chris Sabin and Alex Shelley, the Motor City Machine Guns, will be taking on Ricky Reyes and Rocky “Azucar” Romero, the Havana Pitbulls. After a hard fought encounter at “70 | 30,” Rocky Romero announced that the Pitbulls and Machine Guns would be participating in the tournament, and that he looked forward to locking horns with Alex Shelley once again. Now with Ricky Reyes back at his side, Romero hopes to avenge his loss at “70 | 30” by defeating the ZERO1-MAX International Lightweight Tag Team Champions, Chris Sabin & Alex Shelley, and going on to claim the vacant PWG World Tag Team Titles.

Also taking place on Night One of DDT4, the first team entered into the tournament, the recently reinstated Briscoe Brothers (Jay & Mark Briscoe) will be taking on the Kings of Wrestling, “Double C” Claudio Castagnoli and Chris Hero! This is a match that Commissioner Dino Winwood had unsuccessfully tried to put together on multiple occasions, but it took the self-proclaimed “genius” of Excalibur to bring it together this time around. With the Briscoe’s checkered past in PWG very well known, they will need to win over the fans as well as defeat former triple crown tag team champions The Kings of Wrestling in order to advance in the tournament!

Plus, if fans needed any more reason to attend both nights of DDT4, both Dino Winwood and Excalibur have outdone themselves by putting together a collection of non-tournament dream matches! On May 19, 2007, Night One of DDT4 “American Dragon” Bryan Danielson will take on Japanese superstar CIMA, of Dragon Gate. Also, former PWG World Champion Joey Ryan will take on “The Man That Gravity Forgot” PAC in singles competition! Keep in mind that if he defeats current PWG World Champion El Generico at All Star Weekend V, PAC’s match with Joey Ryan will be for the PWG World title!

On May 20, 2007, Night Two of DDT4, not only will the Semi-Finals and Final Round Match of the tournament take place, but in non-tournament competition “American Dragon” Bryan Danielson will battle “The Man That Gravity Forgot” PAC in their first ever meeting. Fans can also look forward to a rematch from the 2006 Battle of Los Angeles when Dragon Gate’s CIMA takes on PWG World Champion El Generico! If Generico still holds the title at that point, it will be on the line!

If you would like to guarantee yourself a seat for DDT4 on May 19 & 20, tickets will be available during intermission of both nights of All Star Weekend V this Saturday and Sunday. General Admission tickets are $25 per person per night, or Two-Night General Admission Tickets are available for $40 per person. Front Row Tickets are $30 per person per night, or Two-Night Front Row Tickets will be available for $50 per person. Not only does pre-ordering guarantee you a seat for the show, but it also gives you an opportunity to enter the building first, allowing you to have first pick of your seats. The remaining quantity of tickets will be made for sale online on Wednesday, April 11 for those fans who are unable to attend All Star Weekend V and purchase tickets.

Pro Wrestling Guerrilla’s “DDT4” takes place at the Bernard Milken Center JCC on Saturday, May 19, 2007 at 8:00PM and Sunday, May 20, 2007 at 5:00PM. The Milken Center JCC is located at 22622 Vanowen St., West Hills, CA 91307. General Admission tickets are $25 per person per night, or Two-Night General Admission Tickets are available for $40 per person. Front Row Tickets are $30 per person per night, or Two-Night Front Row Tickets will be available for $50 per person. Tickets will be available for pre-purchase this weekend at All Star Weekend V, and available for pre-order online starting April 11, 2007. Any remaining quantities to be sold at the door on the day of each event.
