SoCal News & Notes – April 27th, 2004

Here’s a short news update for today with information on SoCaler’s heading to Japan, SoCalers in Japan, SoCalers heading east, and more. Click below for today’s edition of News & Notes.-Disco Machine and Mr. Excitement will be wrestling for Osaka Pro Wrestling in Japan for the next two weeks. Mr. Excitement is coming out of retirement for the tour to fulfill his dream of wrestling in Japan.

-New Japan Pro Wrestling’s Inoki Dojo will be taking part in the Pacific Media Expo, which will be held May 29 through 31 at the Anaheim Hilton Towers / Convention Center. The Pacific Media Expo is a convention dealing with Asian pop culture including anime, music, and live action films. For more information check out http://www.pacificmediaexpo.com.

-Bobby Quance has been selected for CZW’s 4th annual Best of the Best tournament at Viking Hall (ECW Arena) in Philadelphia. B-Boy is the other name that has been announced so far. Though not announced yet, Jardi Frantz will also be in the tournament.

-2003’s Southern California rookie of the year runner-up, Hook Bomberry, should be able to begin in-ring training again in six weeks or so. Hook suffered a serious leg injury last year that has kept him out of action the past months.

-The group stage of New Japan’s Young Lion’s Cup has ended, and here are the final standings:

4. Chad Wicks [9]
5. Pinoi Boy [7]
6. Naofumi Yamamoto [6]

Chad Wicks has moved on to the quarter-finals and will be facing Kazuya Yuasa on today’s show (that will actually start within a matter of minutes of this being posted).
