The East Coast-based promotion Game Changer Wrestling announced earlier today that they will be making their return to Southern California on March 2nd, 2019 in Los Angeles, CA.
Game Changer Wrestling’s upcoming March event will be the second event the promotion has held in Southern California. GCW made its Southern California debut on November 16th, 2018 when they presented Joey Janela’s LA Confidential at The Hi Hat in Los Angeles, CA.
The event made a lot of headlines after GCW Heavyweight Champion Nick Gage defeated movie star David Arquette in a Deathmatch that saw Arquette suffer a laceration after an accident during a spot involving light tubes. Photos and video of Arquette’s bloody match began to go viral and caught the attention of several media outlets.
David Arquette basically shoots on Nick Gage at the end of the match. Figure Gage flipped him and told him to stay down for the pin. Once Arquette's neck got sliced, he kind of started freaking out and almost walked out of the match #GCW #JJLAC pic.twitter.com/waao3yHNHe

GCW’s SoCal debut event also featured a mix of GCW stars, SoCal regulars, and several stars from the 1990s. Matches at Joey Janela’s LA Confidential included Brody King vs. Hardcore Holly, D-Lo Brown vs. Ethan Page, DJ Z vs. Great Sasuke, Eli Everfly vs. Marko Stunt, and Human Tornado vs. Penelope Ford. The event is currently available on DVD and Blu-Ray through Smart Mark Video.
GCW’s Joey Janela’s LA Confidential was originally scheduled to be held at The Avalon in Hollywood, CA. The event ended up being moved to The Hi Hat in Los Angeles, CA. The move came as a result of The Avalon learning about the criminal history of Nick Gage. After learning about Nick Gage’s criminal past, the venue contacted GCW claiming they were worried and uncomfortable about “liabilities or fans getting hurt.”
I’m sure real fights happen at the @AvalonHollywood every weekend, I’m sure over 1000 people do drugs there every weekend & I’m sure convicted felons are there every weekend! You guys are worried about fake fighters who perform all over the world every weekend, causing an issue.

While Nick Gage had previously served time in prison for bank robbery, he had not served time for any violent offenses. When asked, the venue would not state how they were advised of Nick Gage’s criminal history.
Following GCW’s Joey Janela’s LA Confidential, the promotion teamed up with Suburban Fight Pro Wrestling to hold a special “No Rings, No Rules” show at The Hi Hat less than two hours after Joey Janela’s LA Confidential. The main event of GCW and Suburban Fight’s co-promoted show saw Nick Gage defeat Brody King.
No other details about GCW’s March 2nd, 2019 event have been announced.
