Need a venue in Azusa, steer clear of the VFW Hall. Tonight PWG presents Threemendous IV, but next week might be even more important than tonight. AWS runs it’s 3rd to last show of the year. Time is ticking, come out and support the brand. Red Carpet Rumble has been made available to those subscribed to the United Wrestling Network and more…
Pro Wrestling Guerrilla
Tonight will be a huge night for Pro Wrestling Guerrilla as the present Threemendous IV. Front Row sold out in a matter of minutes. Supposedly, if you’ve got the $45, you can get through the door. Tonight is a special night because it marks the return of Akira Tozawa. Heralded as a great talent from Dragon Gate. Tozawa was a bit of a staple for SoCal just a few years ago. It’s nice to see him back at Pro Wrestling Guerrilla. It’s been about three years since Tozawa teamed with “Appetite for Destruction” against El Generico, PAC, and Masato Yoshino. Isn’t it crazy how three of those guys work for the WWE right now? Also members of Mount Rushmore will defend the PWG Tag Team Championship Titles against Angélico and Jack Evans. This is also kind of like a NJPW vs. AAA match (or Lucha Underground), because the Young Bucks are part of the wildly popular Bullet Club while Evans and Angélico team regularly in AAA and have appeared on Lucha Underground. Speaking of Evans, he is a former PWG Tag Team Champion with Roderick Strong, back in 2008. Also, tickets to BOLA go on sale next Thursday July 30th at 8PM. This might be the biggest PWG Show ever.
Alternative Wrestling Show
Saturday night is going to be a pretty awesome night at the Alternative Wrestling Show. Summer Heat #6 boasts of a pretty big line up. Sonjay Dutt returns to AWS to challenge Famous B for the AWS Lightweight Championship. Famous B has been wrestling in Mexico and for Lucha Underground while wearing the AWS Lightweight Championship Belt. The AWS Tag Titles are on the line when direct from GWF: Reno Scum along with B-Boy and Lil Cholo challenge PPRay for the AWS Tag Team Championship Titles in a Triple Threat Match. Also fans of the National Wrestling Alliance or Shine Wrestling will recognize Santana Garret as she takes on Christina Von Eerie. Garret is a former TNA Knockout, but has made a lot of news lately since winning the NWA Woman’s Championship back in February. The Main Event is Willie Mack vs. Lucha Underground star, plus one of the top challengers to El Patron’s AAA Championship, Bryan Cage, the Swolverine. It should be another amazing night of wrestling in South Gate, do yourself a favor and be there.
EWF Parts Ways with the VFW in Azusa
As so eloquently posted on facebook; Jesse Hernandez, patriarch of the Empire Wrestling Federation, said “Let the whole universe know the kind of low life’s that manage the VFW in AZUSA.” The embeded video on this post ring announcer and former SoCalUNCENSORED luminary Benjamin Tomas accused the VFW ticket takers of having “sticky fingers.” Why is this news? Well first and foremost you should be pissed. Wrestling is often criticized for being a carny business, but often times its “legitimate” businesses that are attempting to screw over wrestling businesses. EWF has shows through out the month in Covina, San Bernardino, and they used to have shows in Azusa. Good for EWF for sticking up for themselves and making this public. I’d also encourage any other legitimate business to stay away from the VFW in Azusa as this kind of behavior should keep everyone away. If you are planning your wedding, company party or what have you, please stay away from there.

SoCal Wrestling Podcast
In the last couple of weeks, the Wrestling Guys Podcast has featured Raze, Sasha Darevko, Tito Escondido, Famous B, and AWS Owner Bart Kaptzkie. If you’re interested in wrestling podcasts, these might make for some great listens this weekend. And I would be a bum if I didn’t bring up my friends Skits and Oscar who run the Wrestling Heads Website. Their last podcast with one half of Team Tremendous Dan Barry is live. Check it out. They also interviewed Willie Mack last night. Look for that one soon. And lastly, if you’re looking for something a tad bit less formal, t-shirts are option and it gets steamy in a hot tub, go follow DaShawn2Cents as he is reviewing shows from across the country and interview talent from everywhere. He recently spoke to Jervis Cottonbelly who is not only a standout for CWFH, but also going to be competing in Chikara later this year. As well as Paul London, Rocky Romero, and more. Go give these guys a listen and if you like what you hear, tell them Jay Cal sent ya.
