The “Return to the Roots” fundraiser, featuring a lineup of wrestling stars, will benefit the Boys and Girls Club of San Bernardino.

The family-friendly event will feature names like The Von Dooms vs. Mega King and Rico Dynamite in a tag team match; No Holds Barred, Uptown Andy Brown vs. Prince Raccid Najjar in the American Championship match; La Flecha Fugaz, Richie Slade and Danny Ghost and other EWF stars.

The main event is Terex at 300-plus pounds vs Ironman for the EWF Championship.

“A Blast from the Past” will showcase Sonny Valens vs. Matt Sinister. Valens is a former Redlands resident who is making a name for himself in Hollywood and on television shows including “Law and Order.”

Then the grand finale is the Over the Top Battle Royal, in which the wrestlers toss each other out of the ring.

A substantial portion of the events proceeds will benefit Boys and Girls Club programs, said Lolita Llyles, club program development director and Loma Linda University instructor.

“This show will be exciting and fun,” she said.

“We serve 100 kids a day with our after-school programs that include sports and recreation, character and leadership, education, health and life skills.”

Llyles added that she loved working with kids and wouldn’t have it any other way.

Promoter and owner of Empire Wrestling Federation, Jesse Hernandez, said he was happy to be helping a great organization like the Boys and Girls Club of San Bernardino.

“Everyone at Empire Wrestling Federation will do their best to make this event a resounding success for the Boys and Girls Club,” said San Bernardino native Hernandez, who also owns the School of Hard Knocks.

“The club is a positive force in our city and anyway we can help them, we will.”
