This is the first Steve’s View since the July rankings have come out. There has been a lot of talk about the rankings. Here are some answers.
Rankings are submitted by five different people. The people who submit rankings rotate from month to month. We try to get people who have been to as many shows as possible. Having a static group of people who submit rankings would mean in some months a person who went to very few shows would submit rankings. Actually, I’m the only person who has submitted rankings in each month since the site has been open. No two months in a row have the same five people submitted rankings. I feel this gives a decent sampling of people and tastes in SoCal.
A wrestler has to be working in SoCal two months in a row (or have worked for one promotion two straight shows) to be eligible to be ranked. So in other words Vampiro was not eligible after Redemption, but was eligible after Rapture. On the same token Chris Daniels will not be ranked in September’s rankings.
UPW Lite Shows are not counted in the rankings. If a wrestler works only Lite Shows in a month, he will not be eligible. Also any matches at Lite Shows aren’t eligible for Match of the Month and Lite Shows shouldn’t influence UPW’s ranking on Fed of the Month.
The rankings use a simple point system. For wrestlers a first place vote is worth 15 points. A second 14, a third 13, a fourth 12, and so on down to a fifteenth place vote being worth 1 point. The same goes for feds and matches but on a 5 point scale.
Hopefully this clears up some of the questions people have. Have any more questions send me an e-mail or post it on the message boards.

I’m going Oregon today until next Monday. I won’t be able to update while I’m gone so don’t think the site is dead because it hasn’t been updated for a week. When I come back hopefully there will be a ton of updates including some interviews and some columns by some new faces to SCU.
