Dominic Clark defeated Darren Smith Jr. by unanimous decision to win the vacant CXF Lightweight Championship in the main event of CXF 16: Season’s Beatings in Los Angeles on December 22. With his victory, Clark is the first fighter to have won the CXF Lightweight Championship two times. Clark’s MMA record improved to 13-8 and while Smith Jr. falls to 15-10.
In the semi-final fight, Mike Quintero defeated Jack May via ref stoppage at the end of round 1 to win the vacant CXF Heavyweight Championship. Quintero applied a arm-triangle choke on May with 15 seconds left in the first round. After the round ended the referee called the fight as he determined May was out. Quintero improved his MMA record to 5-1 while May falls to 10-6.
On the undercard, it took JJ Buckner all of ten seconds to knock out Eugene Provencio with a flurry of strikes. This was an amateur fight held under the CXF D-League banner.
