PCW Ultra has revealed the full talent lineup for their third-anniversary event, titled A2K19, on January 18, 2019. The event will be headlined by new PCW Ultra Heavyweight champion Shane Strickland making his first title defense against the debuting Matt Sydal and an appearance by Mil Mascaras.
Shane Strickland, who was also the PCW Ultra Light Heavyweight Champion, defeated Penta El Zero M in the main event of the promotion’s Believe event on December 7, 2018, to win the PCW Ultra Heavyweight Championship. Strickland’s victory ended Penta El Zero M’s 372 day reign as champion. Matt Sydal, who wrestled as Evan Bourne in WWE, will be making his first Southern California appearance since October 21, 2017.
In the only other match to be announced so far for A2K19, Tessa Blanchard will be defending her PCW Ultra Women’s Championship against Taya Valkyrie. Blanchard is the only Women’s Champion in the promotion’s history since winning the title on May 4, 2018. Valkyrie defeated Heather Monroe at Believe to become the number one contender to Blanchard’s title. Blanchard has made five successful title defenses.
Mil Mascaras will be making an appearance at A2K19, taking part in the meet and greet. Fans may also purchase in-ring photos with him. Mil Mascaras first wrestled in Southern California in 1968 and was one of the region’s biggest stars of the late 1960s and 1970s. He was inducted into the Southern California Pro-Wrestling Hall of Fame in 2002, the NWA Hall of Fame in 2009, and the WWE Hall of Fame in 2013.
John Hennigan, going by Johnny Ultra, will be making his return to PCW Ultra at the anniversary event. This will be his first appearance for the promotion in a year, having last appeared at the two-year anniversary show on January 19, 2018. In his last PCW Ultra appearance, Hennigan teamed with Sami Callihan in a losing effort against Penta El Zero M and The Great Muta.
In addition to the aforementioned Matt Sydal, there will be three other wrestlers making their PCW Ultra debuts at A2K19. Debuting will be Sam Adonis, Fidel Bravo, and Madman Fulton. This will be the Southern California debut for Fulton, who wrestled in NXT as Sawyer Fulton.
Returning wrestlers include Sami Callihan,2017 Southern California Rookie of the Year Jake Atlas, 2017 Southern California Wrestler of the Year Eli Everfly, Hammerstone, PCW Ultra Tag Team Champions Warbeast (Almighty Sheik and Fatu), Oracle, Sinn Bodhi, and PJ Black.
PCW Ultra’s A2K19 will be held at the ILWU Memorial Hall in Wilmington, CA with a scheduled bell time of 8:30 p.m. Tickets are available now at PCWUltra.com and range from $30.00 to $100.00. The event will also be available live on pay-per-via through Fite.tv for fans outside of the Southern California area.
