SoCal News & Notes 12/07/2018

In today’s Southern California pro-wrestling news update, we have the latest on a possible MLW show in SoCal, PCW Ultra, AWS, Baja Stars USA, FIST, SoCal Pro, and more. Plus a listing of all of this week’s Southern California pro-wrestling events. Click for today’s update.

During a recent Q&A on Instagram, Salina De La Renta confirmed that Major League Wrestling (MLW) has had discussions about possibly running a show in Los Angeles. We’ve been advised that while it is still only in the discussion stage, holding television in the Los Angeles area is something they definitely would like to do in the near future. In 2018, MLW has held events in Florida, New York, and in the Chicago area and their television program airs nationally on beIN Sports.

PCW Ultra has announced Matt Sydal will be debuting for the promotion at their third anniversary show on January 18, 2019. Sydal will be facing either Penta El Zero M or Shane Strickland, depending on who the champion is after tonight’s PCW Ultra event in Wilmington.

PCW Ultra will also be announcing what legend will be appearing at their anniversary show during tonight’s event. At their second anniversary show Great Muta appeared and wrestled his first match in the United States since 2015.

Alicia Warrington, who has been doing backstage interviews at PCW Ultra and the Heavy Wrestle YouTube series, revealed on social media on December 5 that she has been hired by WWE and will be joining NXT’s announce team. In NXT she will be going by the name Alicia Taylor.

AWS has added Jordynne Grace to their January 26, 2019 show in South Gate. Grace had been scheduled a couple times for AWS in 2018 but was unable to wrestle due to injury. This will be her first appearance in AWS since December 2, 2017 and first Southern California appearance since she wrestled for Maverick Pro on April 14, 2018.

Bandido, Flamita, and Extreme Tiger will be facing each other in a three-way for the semi-main event of Baja Stars USA’s third anniversary show on February 16. The show’s main event will be Pagano, Psycho Clown, and Mortiz (who is likely there to take the loss) in a three-way.

FIST Combat will have their first ever ladder match on January 3, 2019 between Rocketboy D’Marco Wilson and Matt Vandagriff. Since neither wrestler holds a title in the promotion we asked what they would be fighting for and were told that would be answered soon.

SoCal Pro will have a tables match between Anthony Idol and Dark Usagi at their January 12, 2019 event in Vista. If Idol wins he gets a match with an opponent of his choosing that is a member of Everett Scott’s faction in the promotion. If Dark Usagi wins Idol is banned from SoCal Pro for 90 days.

As it was first reported by SEScoops, Brody King has signed an exclusive contract with Ring of Honor that starts in 2019.

Willie Mack’s opponent at Championship Wrestling from Hollywood’s Milestone event on December 9 will be Samuel Shaw. The match will be for the NWA National Championship.

There will be wrestling as part of the San Diego Tequila, Taco, and Cerveza Fest on December 8 at Liberty Station in San Diego. The event will be taking place from 2:00-6:00 p.m. Ruby Raze is scheduled to face Texas based wrestler Myka at the event.
