Imperial County’s Venue Wrestling Entertainment (VWE) recently announced that for AAA and current Lucha Underground star Rey Fenix will be making his VWE debut on their October 21st show in Imperial, CA. VWE, which held its first show in May and has been running monthly since then, has been featuring a mix of talent from Mexicali, Tijuana, and Southern California lucha talent. On recent shows they have had Southern California luchadors such as Super Boy Jr., Principe Indu Jr., Lil’ Cholo, Mariachi Loco, Veinom, and Motros Jungle among others.
Rey Fenix, who was formally known as Fenix in AAA and weekly on Lucha Underground will be facing Rayden in the shows main event. I’m told Rayden is a luchador who has been around for years but has changed his name and is keeping his previous identity secret. This will be Rey Fenix’s first match in Southern California since he changed his name and debuted his new identity on The Crash show in Tijuana on September 24th. As AAA owned the rights to the Fenix name, he was forced to make a name change after leaving AAA.
Speaking of The Crash, also on the show for the first time in the United States, The Crash Junior title will be defended when Black Danger defends it against VWE Lightning champion Maverick. Black Danger has held the title since winning it from Black Boy in July. The Lightning title will not be on the line.
Also scheduled for the show Efekto and Motros Jungle taking on Tokix and Exodus, Veinom versus Mr. Impact, and “Rocketboy” D’marco Wilson and Incendio Calavera facing Mr. Wright and Damian Smith.
I’m also told Masked Republic will be at the show selling merchandise as well, though they won’t have Rey Fenix merchandise available yet, however you can preorder his masks and t-shirts at LuchaShop.com.
The show will be taking place at the Ricochet Rec. Center in Imperial at 7:30, with doors opening at 6:30 for autographs and photos.
