Alex Caceres to step in for BJ Penn at UFC 199

After the UFC announced BJ Penn had received a provisional suspension for a potential Anti-Doping Policy violation, UFC officials have announced that Alex Caceres will be replacing Penn at UFC 199 in Inglewood, CA.

As first reported by Fox Sports and later confirmed by the UFC, Caceres will now be facing Cole Miller, who was originally stepping in as a replacement for Penn’s original opponent, Dennis Siver, who was forced out of the June 4th bout due to an injury.

Caceres (MMA Record: 11-8-1 NC, UFC Record: 6-6-1) last fought in January at UFC on Fox: Johnson vs. Bader, defeating Masio Fullen via unanimous decision to snap a three fight losing streak. Caceres, nickname “Bruce Leroy“, gained lots of notoriety as a contestant on The Ultimate Fighter: Team GSP vs. Team Koscheck in 2010 and collected two “Submission Of The Night” bonuses in his UFC career.

UFC 199 will also feature Luke Rockhold defending the UFC Middleweight Championship against Michael Bisping, Dominick Cruz defending the UFC Bantamweight Championship against Urijah Faber as they look to complete their trilogy, Hector Lombard vs. Dan Henderson, Max Holloway vs. Ricardo Lamas, Dustin Poirier vs. Bobby Green, Brian Ortega vs. Clay Guida, and more.

UFC 199 airs live on Pay-Per-View, with prelim bouts airing on UFC Fight Pass and Fox Sports 1. For more information on UFC 199, check out the SCU Events Page or visit the official UFC website.
