Jay Cal’s View #165

“There’s no talent here, this is hard work. This is an obsession. Talent does not exist, we are all equals as human beings. You could be anyone if you put in the time. You will reach the top and that’s that. I am not talented, I am obsessed” — Conor McGregor

Rest In Peace, The Great Hayabusa
I’ve already echoed the sentiment from others, I’ve read today. Man, this sucks. Hayabusa was my favorite wrestler before I knew who he was. WCW vs. The World, how many of you remember using “Habanero” on your PS1. Not unlike Matt Jackson, I too would buy all the FMW DVD releases at Best Buy and would just fast forward to the Hayabusa matches. I wasn’t big into tape trading, mostly because I didn’t have any connections. But in talking with those within the tape trading industry, Hayabusa was always a big ticket. It wasn’t until recently that I discovered he had wrestled in Southern California, just a few months after Vampiro made his debut at WWA at the Cal State LA Gym. Hayabusa would only have one other match in SoCal as part of the E3 Expo, which I tried very hard to get into, but I couldn’t get credentialed. Hayabusa inspired many wrestlers locally in SoCal from Scorpio Sky, Los Luchas, Chimera, SoCal Crazy, and really countless others. His career has been over for sometime, his life ended last night, but his legend will remain. God Speed, Eiji Ezaki.

Ben Tomas Auction

In the earlier version, I forgot to mention about the one of a kind unique piece or Artwork up for auction on eBay with proceeds going to help Benjamin Tomas with his medical expenses. Gary Yap kindly donated the artwork for the auction. If you’re a fan of the Empire Wrestling Federation or Southern California, this is a must own piece of art. And its going to a terrific cause.  The auction closes tomorrow night.  Don’t sleep on this one.  http://www.ebay.com/itm/172116449792?ssPageName=STRK%3AMESELX%3AIT&_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649

Ray Rosas Interview
In lieu of a Rosas Report this week, Ray took time out of his busy schedule to talk to our very own Andrew aka TrueFan. And in all honesty, for all the people that hate Andrew, this interview is everything right with what he is trying to accomplish. Andrew’s vernacular might not coincide with my own, but he’s very honest. And the awesome thing is, Ray is just as honest. I really enjoyed the nearly hour and half long conversation. Nothing was off the table. If you can’t respect Ray for talking to a guy who most consider the “biggest hater in SoCal” and essentially not backing away from any questions, well… you’re asking for too much. Kudos to Andrew and Ray for a very interesting piece that I hope you all check out.

SoCalUNCENSORED Turns 15…
This site is older than some of the people visiting it. If you had a friend who used to post on the site, invite them to comeback. We’re planning some interesting things over the next couple of weeks. We’re also sharing memories on the message board about how you found SCU and sharing the biggest moments in the past 15 years. Make sure you visit the board and join in the conversation.

United Wrestling Network
Apparently there was a technical snafu with Championship Wrestling from Hollywood this week. To correct this issue the producers of the show leaked episode 249 directly to YouTube.

  1. Hello Jay, I like your reporting but why does Andrew cuss so much, he needs to learn to express himself without bad language, I wont let my 8 yr old son read his stuff because of it.

    • I don’t want your 8 year old reading my shit because my articles are for goddamn grownups. And if you’re going to bitch about my fucking articles, don’t fucking read them, then go talking shit about me, and then complain about it to Jay Cal. Stop trying to stifle my creative freedom.

  2. Phillip, I understand completely. I would say this site is at very least PG-13. The site does go out of its way to identify that it’s UNCENSORED. I don’t always agree with the language that Andrew uses, but that’s part of the calling card, part of the principles that the site was founded on.

    • Thank you for your quick response, I have been following wrestling for about 50yrs going bad to the old days of the Olympic Auditorium and I have been trying to teach my son the bussines and like I said I think you articles are great but I cant let my son read Andrews stuff because of the F word, in fact I asked him about it and he told me F you so anyway I want you and everybody to keep up the good work

  3. Andrew your creative freedom is showing your STUPIDY

    • And all these fucking retorts are showing you’re ridiculousness. Instead of getting upset over my expert usage of the word fuck, get upset something that really matters and is worth caring about. Yeah, I am stupid, but at least I can have fun while doing so.

  4. LOL I AM NOT UPSET, YOU ARE I CAN TELL BY HOW TOU TALK AND I AM LMAO HAHAHAHA YOU ARE A REAL LOSER ANDREW, AND VERY IMATURE

    • You say you’re not upset, but yet you complain all the time about me saying fuck and are now replying with all caps.

      You’re upset.
