Are you going to support your local indie wrestling this weekend? I’m going to be making an almost two hour drive to support Championship Wrestling from Hollywood on Sunday and I think it’ll be well worth it. This week I talk about my show reviews, I address a SoCalUNCENSORED Podcast, updates with the United Wrestling Network– including this weekends Red Carpet Rumble, and more. Also where to go to find wrestling this weekend.
Reviews…
First off, I’d like to thank everyone for the feedback I’ve received recently on my most recent review of the Empire Wrestling Federation. People have been asking for a while for reviews of the shows. My promise to the readers of this site is that my reviews will always be honest. Because of the overwhelming demand, I’ll be writing reviews of all the shows I will be attending for the foreseeable future. If you haven’t checked out my review of the July 3rd Empire Wrestling Federation event, please check it out. I’ll be posting my review of the Championship Wrestling from Hollywood’s Red Carpet Rumble most likely on July 16th. I am much anticipating the Hollywood Heritage Title Match between Scorpio Sky and Champion, Yuma. Here’s hoping for a night of surprises and fun wrestling.
SCU Podcast?
Okay, I admit.. that was total click bait. I wanted to grab your attention. For almost five years I did a weekly podcast on the entirety of the National Wrestling Alliance. Simply put, it was a lot of fun, interviewed some great people, made some very great relationships with people whom I consider friends today, but I didn’t have the time or the money to make the podcast better than it was and for that primary reason, I stopped and as of right now, I have zero plans to start up a new podcast. So besides answering a question that nobody asked me, I do want to give a shout out to two different podcasts that are doing a good job covering SoCal. The Wrestling Guy Podcast, who last week I told you had a real solid interview with Raze put out another real solid interview with Sasha Darevko. The other crew producing weekly podcasts are the Wrestling Heads, Skits and Oscar cover a much greater area than just SoCal, but occasionally have interviews with SoCal talent. They recently recapped the WWE 4th of July Event in Japan, Beast in the East. And last night they had Joey Kaos join their show. I haven’t listened yet, but I’ll probably check it out soon. In any case, if you’re looking for a SoCal Wrestling related podcast, please check out these guys. Now you both owe me a t-shirt.
United Wrestling Network
The Stars are aligning for Championship Wrestling from Hollywood and the Red Carpet Rumble. There has been a lot of speculation that the SoCal Wrestling Hall of Famer, Roddy Piper will be in attendance. Wrestling legends Road Warrior Animal, The Taskmaster Kevin Sullivan, former ECW World Champion “The Franchise” Shane Douglas, as well as Mason Ryan and Michael Tarver with all of your Championship Wrestling from Hollywood favorites, are all announced as being in attendance. Of course the Main Event of the Red Carpet Rumble is the 30 Man over the top rope battle royal, which will feature pro-wrestling legends, stars from around the United Wrestling Network and CWFH mainstays. Also, Kevin Martenson defends his Television Championship against Brian Myers (formerly WWE’s Curt Hawkins). “Mr. Azucar” returns to Hollywood take on debuting from the Pacific Northwest Colt Toombs. Thatcher & Gulak defend their newly acquired Heritage Tag Titles against Reno Scum. In a match what will not be televised TNA rivals Kenny King will face off against Eli Drake (formerly known as Shaun Ricker). And lastly, Scorpio Sky will challenge YUMA for the Heritage Heavyweight Championship.
And if you can’t wait until Sunday for some CWFH, visit UWN powered by Patreon. It’s perfect for those of us who do not have access KDOC-TV or YouToo America. Newest episodes of Championship Wrestling from Hollywood are uploaded usually prior to the airing on Sunday Mornings. Currently available for streaming are; RockNES Monsters defending the Hollywood Heritage Tag Titles against Natural Selection with Percy Pringle III and Los Luchas from June 26th 2010 in Yuma Arizona, Daniel Bryan vs. Sean “X-Pac” Waltman from November 11th 2007 in Peth Australia, AJ Styles vs. Trent Barretta on June 14th 2014 at Port Hueneme California, and most recently added Chase Stevens & Andy Douglas (The Naturals) taking on Romeo Roseli & Antonio Thomas (The Heart Throbs) from the Tsongas Arena in Lowell MA from July 7th 2006.
EWF’s Rising Star
Is the Baby Bull, the next big thing? Vance Garayt, if you remember was profiled in the Desert Sun just a few weeks ago. The 2014 Rookie of the Year Nominee became the EWF American Champion on Friday July the 3rd. Vance Garayt certainly got a little more than a round of applause during the Six Man Ladder Match to crown the new American Champion, in which he outlasted Adrian Quest, RJ Ruiz, the Viking Warrior, Anthony Idol and Richie Slade. With the crowd firmly behind this young man, this young man can certainly achieve great heights in the Empire Wrestling Federation.
