A Recap of EWF’s Jingle Slam Dec. 6th

This CHAOS COLUMN is a recap of Empire Wrestling Federations’ “Jingle Slam 4” at the Knights of Columbus Hall, Covina December 6th 2013.  EWF’s annual December Covina show drew fans to bring in toy donations equivalent to the usual price of admission. Depute Commissioner “Handsome” Johnny Starr was in Santa garbs to open the show, before bringing out Ring Announcer Ben Tomas.

1 – Richie Slade p. Seville “The Thrill” Alvarez with his version of “The Final Answer”. Richie would end up being the only “EWF Hero” to win his match on the final Covina show of the year.

2 – Uday Ukleja p. Sabastian Ice with a rollup cover and a handful of tights that was not caught by Referee Christopher Lee.

3 – Gauntlet Match for the EWF Tag Team titles. The match opened up with The A-List (R.J. Ruiz & Jeremy Jaeger) going up against The Triangle of Terror (Raccid Najjar & Afar(?)), with Jaeger pinning Afar with the team finisher. Anchors Away (David E. Jones & Ryan Stone) were up next, and they cleanly eliminated The A-List when they double-pinned Ruiz w/ the “Anchor Drop”. That brought out the defending champs Von Dooms (Vintage Dragon & Cyanide, w/ Terra Calaway), who took care of the “naval petty officers” with a double rollup for the pin. The Von Dooms then had quite a battle with former IWL Tag Team champs The Mixtape Kings (Jerome “LTP” Robinson & Jacob Diez) before Cyanide put away Diez with a Gorilla Press. The Revolution (Che Cabrera & Fidel Bravo) were next, and the “commies” did quite a number on VD’s right knee, but couldn’t seal the deal when VD p. Fidel with the Crucifix rollup. The last team to enter was The Fallen Empire (Ryan Taylor & Mondo Vega), and they picked up where The Revolution had started by continuing to pick apart VD’s right knee. VD finally managed to tag in Cyanide, but the damage was already done, and when a Reverse Electric Chair attempt failed because of the said right knee, Ryan & Mondo hit their team finisher on VD to score the title-clinching pin, and put themselves as serious contenders for the EWF “Tag Team of 2013” honors.

SM – Joey Barone (w/ “Director” Rudy Telerana) p. SoCal Crazy with a Butterfly Suplex hold into a Facebuster, taking advantage of a distraction from Rudy.

M – 8-Man Survivor Series style match. Connected: EWF Heavyweight Champion “The Mega-King” Tommy Wilson, Brute Baretto, Tyshaun Prince, & Rico Dynamite (w/ Marty Elias & Coach Walt) Team Ironman: “Ironman” Mike Maze, EWF American Champion “Uptown” Andy Brown, Patient Zero, & Killa Gorilla If you had read my live post during the show, I definitely felt that “Team Ironman” was at a major disadvantage, both in body size, and with two managers on the side of the heels. * Eliminations 1 & 2: Tyshaun p. Zero, then Gorilla with the Tree Slam. * Elimination 3: Tommy p. Andy with the Mega-Kick. * Eliminations 4 & 5: Ironman rolled up & pinned Rico, then did the same on Baretto. * Elimination 6: Tyshaun Prince was DQ’d for pulling out Referee Nick Lera(?) to stop the cover count. * Final Elimination for “Sole Survivor”: Connected members ran back in while Marty & Coach Walt distracted the ref, and Tyshaun hit the Tree Slam on Mike, allowing Tommy to finish it with the Mega-Kick. They did a post-match beatdown on Mike, but failed in the end to deliver a “career-ending” blow because the head-shot with the chair was not hard enough. Their celebration over Mike’s “lifeless heap” was stopped when their music didn’t play…instead, IT WAS BRANDON GATSON’S music.

Shot Of The Night – 12-6-13

The Tommy Wilson/Brandon Gatson rivalry resumes 1/4/14 in Covina.

Now while I don’t see the title changing hands this early, I do think the feud may go at least all the way to the anniversary show in May. In terms of overall entertainment value, I’ll give the MOTN to the tag team gauntlet match. Unfortunately, the relative lack of crowd energy at the KoC Hall in Covina is one of the major reasons why I won’t be going to most of the EWF shows in ’14. I would like to see Jesse Hernandez & Black Metal continue to improve the abilities of their SOHK students, so that more of them can be featured in other promotions like AWS & CWFH.
