A Recap Of Vendetta Pro’s The Final Level

Bruce LeRoy vs. The New Shogun of Harlem

This CHAOS COLUMN is a recap of Vendetta Pro Wrestlings “The Final Level” November 23rd 2013 at the Simi Valley Boys and Girls Club. A reportedly estimated 500 people filled the gym of the Boys & Girls Club in Simi Valley, to fill the void left by the 2nd closure of MPW

1 – The Roland Alexander California Cup Battle Royal.  This match was held in Royal Rumble format, with wrestlers representing a given California promotion coming in as a unit.  Notable wrestlers in the match included Terra Calaway (for Apex Pro), Uptown Andy Brown (EWF), and even The Human Tornado.  Final 5 were:  Jeckles The Jester (APW), Lestat (UIPW), Rock Riddle, Toko Tonga(?) (GRPW), & The Human Tornado.  Rock Riddle was the next to be thrown out by Toko Tonga, but it was Jeckles who threw out the other three men, with Lestat being the last one gone, to fittingly win the cup in the name of the original founder of APW, who recently passed away.

* Jimmy Wang Yang hits the ring next to cut a promo about finding a opponent.  That’s when Jimi Mayhem came out with his “trainees” that included The Ballard Brothers & Uday Ukleja.  A brief promo from Jimi led into a beatdown of Jimmy, forcing Bruce Leroy to come out to clear them out.

2 – Fatal Four Way between J.D. Horror, Tyler Bateman, The Drunken Irishman, & Ricky Ruffin.  Tyler Bateman won the match when he rolled up The Drunken Irishman in a Crucifix Cover for the pin, taking advantage of the Irishman trying to “chug down a drink from a beer bottle”.  However, Tyler paid a rather steep price for it when The Drunken Irishman smashed the said beer bottle over his head.  Somebody should remind him not to bring a beer bottle into the Boys & Girls Club next time around.

3 – Su/Ka (Sunami & Kadin Anthony) def. Parental Discretion (Mario Banks & Mike Menace).  Sunami & Kadin hit their team finisher on Mario Banks, only for Mike Menace to use the ring bell to break the cover, forcing a DQ by Referee Jay Stone.

* Vintage Dragon (w/ Terra Calaway) came out for the next match, but a couple of the guys from one of the Storage Hunters Reality Show came out, striking a deal with VD, then brought out Billy Blade.

4 – Billy Blade p. Vintage Dragon for another successful defense of the VPW Heavyweight Title.  The numbers game proved useful, as all the guys supporting Billy Blade did their part, including taking a low blow from Terra, leading to a title-belt smash up VD’s head, then rolling Billy over him for the pin.

5 – Intergender Tag Team Match.  SoCal Crazy & Kitana Vera def. Sledge & Hudson Envy when Kitana used a Crucifix Rollup to pin Hudson, after her Superman Spear attempt missed, causing her to smash her left shoulder into the steel post.  Whether that affects her going into her AWS match w/ Brittany Wonder this Saturday on Thanksgiving Weekend, remains to be seen.

6 – Lil Cholo def. Willie Mack & Marcus Lewis for another successful defense of the VPW Tri-Force Title.  Great action by the trio, which ended with Cholo pinning Lewis with what looked like a Glorified Hip Toss finisher.

SM – Brawlin’ Bo Cooper p. Jacob Diez w/ the Death Valley Driver.  That’s when Billy Blade & his group jumped him for a beatdown until two of the cast members from “California Repo” came out.  A video of one of the wrestlers’ SUV being “towed away in a repo” was played out, clearing them out.  Jacob Diez tried for his own beatdown, but ate a Chokeslam for his efforts.

M – Bruce Leroy & Jimmy Wang Yang def. Jimi Mayhem & Shannon Ballard.  The crowd that stayed for this match, which was featured on TMZ, were very hot, drawing the ire of Jimi’s stable, and making it hard for Joe Duncan (who was fighting through illness, and wasn’t able to do his usual ring announcing duties–which was done instead by Jessica Renee) to assist the guys doing security work.  Good action once the wrestling did begin, with Jimmy Wang Yang doing his familiar moves.  Once Bruce got in, his martial arts arsenal was in full focus, giving Jimi some stunning heart shots, then finished him off with a big kick to the gut for the pin.  That sent the kids into the ring to celebrate, and close the show out.

Bruce LeRoy vs. The New Shogun of Harlem

Great show overall, and it was great for the VPW brass to do a show down in Simi Valley to help keep the community buzzing with wrestling after MPW’s last show last month, on the same night as the PWG show.  I’ll give my choice for match of the night to the Tri-Force Championship Match, followed by the main event, then the battle royal.
