This is Draven Unscripted with the full recap of the Brian Kendrick Wrestling Pro Wrestling which took place at the Pineda Pappy Dome in Huntington Park, ca on Wednesday, August 14th.
The show started off with our ring announcer & So Cal’s own Alex Koslov getting the crowd hyped up for the show.
The Monsters (Terex & Killa Gorilla) def Sexy Chino, Ali Hussein & Biggie Biggs when Terex nailed a double chokeslam & Gorilla hit a splash on both Chino & Hussein for the win in this special handicap match. After their lose, the fans chanted, “Dance Chino Dance” as Sexy Chino obliged along with Hussein & Biggs..even Koslov got into it, too.
The next match up was scheduled to be Ryan J. Morals vs The Hobo until Cedric the Hitman hit the ring & attacked The Hobo & Morals paid off Cedric to be in this match.
Cedric the Hitman def The Hobo when Morals distracted the ref & Hobo set up Cedric for his Street Preacher finisher only to have Cedric hit Hobo with his briefcase for the 3 count.
Robby & Jen Phoenix def Hoss Hogg & NY Knockout Nikki when Robby hit a Cradle Shock finisher on Hogg for the victory in this Mix Tag match.
Vintage Dragon def Fern Owens with a Swanton Bomb in this very hard fought match between these two competitors.
Mikey O’Shea def Che Cabrera with a GunSlinger Swinging Sideways Slam for the win
Fresh 2 Death’s Leo Blaze def Mr. Tanaka with a Flying High Knee from the Top rope for the 3 count & the win.
PPRAY (Pretty Peter Avalon & Ray Rosas) def The Muscle Cats (Big Buff Churchill & Saxon Huxley) with their Drop Dead Gorgeous Double Team finisher Gory bomb/flatliner for the win.
Before the main event, the roster came out & surrounded the ring as they rang the bell 10 times for two fallen brothers.
Main Event for the Pappy Pineda Championship
“Hollywood’s Own” Joey Ryan def Willie Mack with a superkick to retain the championship.
The show didn’t have any audio at all, no mic & no music but never the less, the fans who attended were treated to a good show. It had a decent crowd but having a show on a Wednesday may have been difficult for fans to come since a lot of fans go to shows on the weekends but the positive of this show for the fans, is at the next event which as of now is scheduled for September 4th back in Huntington Park, those in attendance received a free tix to the next show.
As to my match of the night, these matches showed great technical wrestling, good chemistry between the opponents & gave the fans matches they’ll talk about. These matches gave us a bit of everything & made me glued to my seat & my matches of the night:
Cedric the Hitman vs The Hobo
Vintage Dragon vs Fern Owens
PPRAY vs Muscle cats
Adding the swerve with Ryan Morals in the Cedric/Hobo match was a nice twist & it help continue this feud that start at the last show. Hopefully we’ll see these to men continue this feud leading to some specialty matches down the road.
Dragon/Owens just meshed well, told a great story in their match & overall a good match.
PPRAY/Muscle Cats had great chemistry, both teams using dirty tactics, solid ground work & high flying spots. PPRAY has established themselves as one of the best tag teams in Southern California & since the debut of the UK’s Muscle Cats, their matches against some of So cal’s tag teams like Rocknes Monsters & PPRAY they proved that they can stand toe to toe with the best of them. Congrats to everyone who participated on this great show.
On a personal note, this event had a special meaning for me. Originally at this show, we would have seen an appearance from one of the newest members to the roster but unfortunately this past weekend Mark “Sumo” Sagato passed away. If you were in attendance at the last Kendrick Wrestling Pro Wrestling show, Mark (at the time didn’t have a persona) came out & cut a promo & issued a challenge to Brian Kendrick to find a team to face his team. That match was The Monsters vs Biggs/Hussein/Chino where Mark was going to be with The Monsters. They dedicated that match to my fallen friend & before the main event, the entire roster came out to pay their respects with a 10 bell salute to Mark Sagato & Drew Satin (cameraman). I was moved when my friend Referee Jay Stone & others gave me their condolences, hand shakes & hugs for my best friend Mark. It just shows that you don’t have to be in the business long to make an impact & make some wonderful friends. I personally want to thank Brian Kendrick, Ryan Morals & everyone who wrestled & attended the show for the stories you shared & the love you showed my brother, my friend Mark Sagato. (On a side note, their has been talk about doing a Memorial Show for Mark Sagato, so once the pen is dry I’ll officially announce the show).
