The first match was between “The Greek God” Papadon who defeated Micah Taylor. Papadon is the reigning ECWA Heavyweight Champion and won the 2012 Super 8 Tournament. Micah Taylor is probably best known as being a part of the African Tour with Luke Gallows and Cliff Compton that introduced the world to The Great Uti, as told on the Art of Wrestling Podcast with Colt Cabana. Micha competed in ZERO1 previously and works GCW in the South East.
Cassidy Riley defeated Corey Hollis for the second spot. Riley was a regular in TNA for some time, these days he’s a regular for the Florida based Ring Warriors, who will be taping their first Television show this weekend. You might know Hollis for teaming with Mike Posey as Alabama Attitude. They’ve worked some matches for ROH but mostly known for working Anarchy wrestling in Georgia. The opening spots were planned to be filled against Antonio “The Promise” Thomas and the recently injured BJ Whitmer.Depending on the seriousness of the injury, there may be another vacancy in the tournament. Earlier in the tournament, Ryan Taylor filled in for Sami Callahan who was unable to attend due to a family emergency.
