Jay Cal’s View #95

SCU Awards have been announced.  What are your thoughts?  SoCal got it right with Scorpio Sky being the Most Outstanding Wrestling of 2011.  Will he win 2012 too?  Clip of the Week comes from Battleground’s last event Mikey O’Shea vs. Rico Dynamite for the BPW Heavyweight Championship.  And this week’s up-coming events.

Clip of the Week
Mikey O’Shea has been wrestling for three years now.  For three years the young man has made quite a name for himself. Mikey regularly works with Battleground and CWF Hollywood as well as working pretty regular with a lot of local promotions. If you ever get a chance to say hi to Mikey after a show, he is a very polite guy.  Always has a smile on his face and is always apt to make time for the fans that want to greet him.  During the show, the hot-headed Irishman screams and yells, intimidates his detractors and fires up his fans.  My first experience watching Mikey wrestling was in Mach-1, he has come a long way since then.  Although he is still honing his craft, Mikey has a lot of potential.  Rico Dynamite is one of the more well traveled guys in our area.  I’ve always thought Rico was under appreciated here in Southern California.  I think he’s a hell of a talent and has a very bright future ahead of him. This Clip of the week was made possible by the good folks at Battleground. Check it out.

2011 SCU AWARDS
Despite the rumors the 2012 SCU Awards have been announced. It took a while for us to get these announced, 10 months to be exact, but we did want to recognize the achievements of the best wrestlers of Southern California
Adair also posted up some analysis of the awards. Also to help streamline the process in the future we’re going to bring back the weekly rankings… I believe they’ll be up soon.

Scorpio Sky Most Outstanding Wrestling of 2011
Most of my Votes didn’t win for the SCU Awards, but this one did. Scorpio Sky had a series of good to great matches for most of his CWF run as Television Champion last year. Just really great matches with Johnny Yuma, Willie Mack, and the match that made him champion against SoCal Crazy. I think Sky has become one of those wrestlers in our area that he cannot have a bad match. Its my opinion that a match after Scorpio Sky improves the wrestler he faces. Congrats to SoCal for getting it right and congrats to Scorpio for getting some of the recognition he so rightfully deserves.  If you’d like to discuss the winners, losers, and more visit the message board and discuss
