Jay Cal’s View #51

"You will kiss the hand of God."

Happy Thanksgiving– This week I take a look back at one of my favorite Thanksgiving Traditions in my youth, will you support Small Business Saturday (by watching your local indy?).  We are still looking for site contributors, I’ll tell you how to get involved, plus the teasers for WRP have hit the air and this weeks schedule of events.

Thanksgiving/Black Friday/Small Business Saturday
Chalk it up to my propensity to over eat or the symbolism of spending an entire day remembering what you are thankful for, Thanksgiving has always been my favorite holiday.  I’d like to personally wish you all a very Happy Thanksgiving. Thinking back to my youth wrestling has always went hand in hand with pro-wrestling, the WWF’s Survivor Series and NWA’s  Starrcade.

Black Friday & Small Business Saturday
As much as I love Thanksgiving I despise Black Friday.  I’ll chalk that up to my near decade of retail hell.  I hate seeing people over indulging in their commercialism, sure  its good for the economy, but who wants to stay the night for three days in front of a Best Buy to save $200, its beyond me.  Anyway Black Friday  is typically the kick off to Holiday Shopping Frenzy where we typically many of us spend money we don’t have to show our friends and families how much we care.  And Small Business Saturday has recently emerged in recent years to make an effort that the small businesses in our community can cash in on the frenzy.  In our community, Indy Wrestling epitomizes small business, so I hope a lot of you will take a break from the shopping and treat yourself to support our community and our small businesses.  Any wrestling promotions who are doing a special deal on merchandise sales please contact me immediately so we can share it on Saturday and even Cyber Monday.

The Raw Impact Comedy Smackdown
December 7t, 8PM at the Hollywood Improve, Interview Extraordinaire Jonny Loquasto hosting a night of comedy with a  simple premise. It’s a lineup of really funny comedians who have 1 thing in common: Their love for Professional Wrestling. You’ll hear classic theme songs, hilarious jokes, watch funny videos, and even some surprise characters might show up!!

Coverage
The question was recently asked of me “why do you only cover certain promotions?”  That’s a fair question and I don’t mind answering.  There are more than a dozen wrestling promotions in this area that put on nearly 15-20 shows a month.  Unfortunately this exceeds my resources to attend every event and at the end of the day, I’m still a fan.  When I can I frequent the shows that fit into my schedule, that I can afford, that are entertaining to me.  I am and always will be very supportive of those pursuing their dreams in this area and trying to cultivate a fanbase for their promotions.  However, I just can’t commit to being at every show, but I’ll do my best to promote news and information about your shows here on SCU and in my Jay Cal’s View and anywhere else, when its appropriate.  If you are unhappy with the coverage your favorite wrestling promotion is receiving, we’re always looking for contributors, if you want to help grow SCU, please contact me at jay.cal@socaluncensored.com.   Thank you.

Wrestling Revolution Project: Teasers
I corresponded with Jeff Katz over the weekend via twitter and he informed me that the teasers for WRP would hit the internet for the WRP.  Introducing Father Dante, this creepy guy will be featured on the WRP Television show and as always we’ll keep you posted.
